Which Should I Take?

  1. As a new NP, I have two opportunities:
    • Work with a wound care doctor at multiple SNFs, pay is $15/patient (new patient: $25)
    • An infectious disease doctor at different hospitals, $18/pt, (consult: $36)

Which should I choose and please tell me your thoughts.

    Thanks.

Quite low pay, considering the reimbursements, but you are brand new.

I would go for the ID. Not for the extra money, but for the experience. You will learn more this way.

Although there may not be quite the volume of work you would see with wounds.

I would also go with the ID. I believe you will see and learn much more than with wound care.

HOw many patients would you be seeing a day. I can't imagine you would see enough patients to even make that worth your time.

Right, a handful here and there at several facilities, and driving around time is not paid, how much do you really make?

But if jobs are scarce, it might be a foot in the door.
