Published

Hi guys I am finishing up on peds and next I take pshyic however I am really worried about advanced med surge. I want to do really well and I don't want to fall behind like I have done in the past. Anywho, my question to you is how do I go about preparing for advanced medsurge so that I can do well?

Personally, I don't feel that I can ever "prepare to do well." I know people ask all the time about how to prepare for an upcoming semester. I feel like the best preparation is to take time off and relax before a new semester or section begins. Is your advanced med/surg in this semester, or next? I think preparing includes learning your current material well because it all builds upon itself. You'll be better prepared by learning the current material as best you can.

I agree -- I don't feel that studying ahead will help much, but I do believe there is merit to being organized ahead of time. For me, a large part of studying is organization so I would probably at least look at what types of topics that I'll be studying for the first few blocks (asking an upperclassman might help) and anticipate organizing my notes to best approach the topics.

I totally agree with this. Think about what worked best for you in the past, and what didn't work very well. As you figure out your style of studying, you'll be able to have a stronger game plan in place.
