So I've been working in my hospital float pool for about a year now. When i finished my bsn I knew I like surgical nursing, and working as a RN now has just confirmed it's the place for me.
In my hospital medical and surgical floors are seperate and not mixed to together. I loath medical patients. Even found ED is to much medical nonsense for me. But absolutely love the surgical floor, PACU and even our day of surgery. However inside OT is not for me.
Ive always wanted to move on to a advance nursing role. I'm quite interested in becoming a clinical nurse specialist in the future, after I have more experience. But not really sure of what sort of roles there are for surgical nurses.
What advance surgical nurses role are out there? (Doesn't have to be just CNS)
Any advice would be good too.

RNFA if you want to work in the OR
Many surgeons also work with NPs (usually acute care) who round on and follow pts post op
CRNA would also be good if you like the complexity and pathophysiolofy of surgical pts with multiple co-morbidities
