Hi! This is my first post here, but I have been reading posts on Psych nursing for a while as I tried to make a decision about what area of nursing to go back into. I have just today accepted a position as an adolescent psych nurse, and I am really excited about it. I have my BS in psych, so I feel I will have enough background info to start, but I am interested in getting some text books on normal and abnormal psych for adolescents (and I know I will be expected to be able to float to all areas of the behavioral hospital too). Anyone have some good suggestions?
Also, I have never worked in a mental health setting before, so if you have any good tips or stories to share...
Thanks much!

I worked adolescent psych for a couple of years- and enjoyed it a lot... You might try Amazon- they have the table of contents, and often sample pages to look at before you buy- and the option of used books for a fraction of the cost. :) Good luck- and remember- they're adolescents- it's their job to make you feel nuts !!
Thanks, I'll try Amazon... And thanks for the tip, I'm sure I will need to keep it in mind!
