Hi there,
I'm currently a MA resident and today I took the TEAS to apply for a local nursing program to start fall '08 . I pray that I get in , but should it not be in my cards I plan on relocating to the San Antonio area next year where I would like to transfer to a college with a good ADN program. Could someone please give advise me of some good 2 year ADN programs. I also have a child in elementary school so a good school for her is also important.

Hey there! I just graduated from a BSN program here in SA. There is only one ADN program here that I'm aware of and that is San Antonio College (SAC)....well, I take that back. I believe St. Philips also has an ADN program but it seems like I heard something about them having a lot of problems recently so I don't think I would reccommend that school. If you decide to look into BSN programs there is UTHSCSA (University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio) and UIW (University of the Incarnate Word).
As far as schools for your daughter, I would suggest Northside ISD and Northeast ISD. I think that many of the schools in those two districts would be reccomended.
Best of luck in wherever you end up! If you ever have any questions, please feel free to PM me!

1NAMILLYON,
Thank you so much for the info. Wonder how difficult it's going to be to get into SAC seeing as though its the only school in that area. I did see that St. Phillips was on a warning for their low passing rates on the NCLEX, so you're right I'll stay clear. Do you know on average how long you have to reside in the area before you're considered a resident?

You have to be a resident for 1 year and SAC is very careful to check proof of that. I lived here for 2 months at my mom's house while getting settled and since I didn't have a license or bills to prove that they would not give me instate tuition for another semester.
There are no other ADN programs but Baptist School of Health Professions, which is currently a diploma program, is in the process of getting accreditation to give associate degrees. So by the time you may be moving here they may be an ADN program. They currently have ADN curriculum and will be retroactively awarding graduates with diplomas an associate degree.

Wayland Baptist now has a RN-BSN or Generic BSN )- I attend there now and wonder if getting my ADN would be faster...Also St.Phillips is off the probation deal- at least that is what I gather-of all the prereqs I already have in my case I believe getting my BSN will be faster than getting my ADN..

Hello,
I am considering the BSN program at Wayland Baptist University in San Antonio, or to try and get into the associate degree program at Batist School of Health Profession. I currently have a B.S. in Business so most of the pre-reqs I have already completed except for the science. Has anyone attended Wayland? Any feedback on which is school is better? Associate vs. BSN? Thanks! Lori
Hi, Im really not sure on the route BSN/RN Im taking my NET this SAT for entrance to Baptist Health Care School- I finished my pre reqs at St.Philips and Wayland. But decided I would go back for my BSN I wont have that many to complete after I get my RN. There were some teachers at Wayland I didnt care for..I really liked the Science dept at St. Phillips

Did you get into Baptist Health System Nursing Program? I to hear if they found my NET scores. I took it in October. Good luck!
