All this talk about baby boomers delaying retirement and younger nurses wondering if they will ever be able to retire ?

How about an Action Plan for nurses planning to be working in their 70's.

I'll start ....

Don't get sick (won't be able to afford getting sick)

- weight bearing exercise

- don't forget about calcium, vit D and osteoporosis

- no smoking, minimal alcohol

- regular screening for the big killers and disablers

Get right with your Higher Power, the sooner the better.

My action plan is to pray my children get good paying jobs and they can support my butt during my golden years.

My plan is to NOT work until my 70s, got the 401K going at both jobs, ROTH IRA and hubbie and I try to live below our means. I watched my parents struggle their whole lives, my dad in his 60s still works two jobs. I plan on enjoying my retirement and am taking steps now to help that happen. Of course "God willin' and the creek don't rise" :o

I want to add something to your list:

"stay out of the sun, if you do go out always use sunscreen"

The sun can really age a person.

My plan is to retire around age 65 either to Mexico or Costa Rica, and spend my golden years on the beach and in the pool (with sunscreen, of course). It is worthwhile to live below my means in my younger years to NOT have to work until I die.

And I plan to move to somewhere I would want to retire to anyway .... and work there.

I'll still get my 'retirement' on my days off

hahaha

Yeah, been there, did all that, and am now trying to rebuild all our losses from the past 3 years. Does'nt matter, there is NO way in heaven I'm doing this job past 60.

Sounds like someone forgot to take their self esteem pill today :smokin:

70's screw that!! Maybe if it's 100% voluntary!! That's what 401k's are for.......70's shoot I'll probably be wearing a diaper by then considering Alzheimers runs strong in my family!
