accused in 2006 exam leakage exonerated
[color=dimgray]thursday, february 07, 2008
the department of justice exonerated almost all of the accused in the june 2006 nursing exams that was tainted with leakage.
. . . the manila times received reports that a local official from iloilo "maneuvered the dismissal of the case" and eventually earned the ire of the daughter of justice secretary raul gonzalez. according to a source of the times, the iloilo official moved for the dismissal of the case without it passing the regular channels of the justice department prosecutors in the petition for review cases.

. . . gonzalez . . . dismissed for lack of probable cause the indictment against ricarte gapuz jr., ma. elena gapuz-altarejos and jonna bucud for violation of republic act 8981 or "an act modernizing the professional regulations commission." gapuz is the owner of the gapuz review center while altarejos and bucud are its drillmasters. it pointed out that the sole proof against the three anchored merely on the insinuation of the reviewees that the leakage materials came from gapuz review. with this, "there is no direct link or connection as to the involvement of gapuz review from the alleged leakage materials... evidence failed to show that gapuz review had an iota of having manipulated the exam."

as to respondents gerardo andamo, glenn luansing, michael jimenez, jerome balisnomo and ferdinand valdez of the pentagon review center, the resolution stated that "considering that the investigation for their involvement was referred back to the national bureau of investigation, we are but constrained to uphold the undertaking of dismissing the complaint against them for insufficiency of evidence for the finding of probable cause."
only accused george cordero of inress review center was charged for violation of section 15 (a) of ra 8981 on the basis of the testimony of reviewee dennis bautista, since cordero was present during the final coaching of the said review center.

So glad that the government stays right on top of things, and they wonder why many have lost respect for them?
Money talks in Manila, that is the worst part of it and people know that greasing palms gets things done.
They have to live with what they have done.

the BON members are the only people who make the examinations... therefore its logical to think that the leakage CAME FROM 1 OF THEM!! t

Let me get this correct: That the only evidence was the testimony of the review students who were handed copies of the answers/exams by the review center? Ahhhhh...I see, the students "Insinuated" that these copies were given to them at the review centers. These copies somehow magically appeared at the appropriate time without any knowledge of the review center drill masters or owners. It is to be now assumed that the XEROX machine is the one to blame, not the review centers.
My oh my...I'm laughing so hard I'm crying.......
Pitiful indeed.
And they wonder why there is so many problems with the government there, and why I have issues with many of these new nursing schools that have opened.
If this is the way that things are handled, then it only makes one more suspect many other under the table happenings there.
Do they honestly think that most are that dumb not to see thru this at all?
May all of them remain in the Philippines and never be permitted to leave, and have to have all of their care done by nurses that had no training.
i graduated last april 2006 at one of the nursing schools here in manila... at that time, i felt the pressure of taking the june 2006 nle because:
1st, i realized that taking nle is not something that you urgently must take right after graduation... earning a bsn degree doesn't really mean we're already loaded with ammunitions enough to conquer the rigorous exam...
2nd, i was a member of the student council representing not just nursing but the whole bunch of students in that college... with so many things needed to finish before graduation, i can't get myself into reviews, i was tied up with so much responsibilities... i envied my classmates who, as early as january, have the time to go to review centers while going to school..
...for some reason, im really considering to take the dec 2006 exam knowing that it will delay me for 6 months... my parents were angry saying that im wasting time but when the ill-fated june 2006 exam took centerstage, i prayed to god that somehow he guided me to delay taking nle in order to study further...
my opinion with the leakage still remains the same... one of the members of bon (i think there were 5 at that time) should be apprehended for tarnishing the nursing reputation in the philippines... there's no magic in it... one of them expedited the questionnaires for money...

actually, they were two of them who were supposedly "apprehended". don't have any news on how everything is going on with their cases as it seems to have been forgotten already. if i'm not mistaken, they are suppose to be in jail ?? don't know for sure and no news on their current status. hope someone can post on where are they now and what has been done so far.
