hi registered professional nurses,
i believe it is time to take control of our profession, by putting our brilliant minds together and come up with some solutions that will be helpful in the health care reform bill. After all, who knows more about how the health care system works than us nurses. We are the patient's advocate for the insurance companies, we listen to their complaints, we educate, we assess, observe, and apply treatment, we visit their homes to continue the medical care that is necessary, we collaborate with the doctors and all other professionals involved in the care. No other profession can match up to what we do, and yet we are under payed. so lets put on our thinking caps and go. when we have enough ideas, someone can put all of them together and send it to the whitehouse, with our signatures. HOW ABOUT IT NURES. "IT IS TIME WE GET FIRED UP"
EACH NURSE CAN PUT HIS OR HER IDEA, AND GIVE THE RATIONALE WHY YOU THINK IT SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED.
1) MORE URGENT CLINICS SHOULD BE PLACED ACROSS THE STATES, ESPECIALLY IN RURAL AREAS. THIS WILL PROVIDE HEALTH PROMOTION AND DISEASE PREVENTION BY, 1) THIS WILL BE GOOD FOR ROUTINE CHECK-UPS (COLONOSCOPY, MAMMOGRAMS, BLOOD WORKS, WOUND TREATMENTS, MILD SYMPTOMS-FEVER, SORE THROATS, CHILLS, COUGHING, INFECTION ETC) OVERCROWDING OF EMERGENCY ROOMS WILL BE AVOIDED AS WELL AS REHOSPITALIZATIONS. THIS WILL DEFINITELY BE COST EFFECTIVE. ALSO THE CLINIC SHOULD BE RUN BY AN MD, A NURSE PRACTITIONER, 4 NURSES/2 NURSING ASSISTANTS. TRANSPORTATION SHOULD BE ALWAYS AVAILABLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.
