Accepted FSCJ Summer 2010 Students

Hey everybody!

I just wanted to start a separate thread regarding our acceptance into the FSCJ (a.k.a. FCCJ) Summer 2010 "RN" program. I know we've all been posting to the "hopefuls" page but now that we aren't "hopefuls" anymore, and we're more like "stressfuls"... I thought I'd start a new page... JOIN ME! :)

I guess it is technically called something else other than "RN program" but... here we go anyway.

I'm still a bit confused as to whether, during orientation, I should be more focused on getting a hospital close to my house or a teacher that will be great during my first term.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this? I've always made the teacher my first priority but I'm curious as to whether or not, those of you who have been there, think that there is a big enough difference in teachers that we would be wise to drive for miles to get to a specific one.

I think some benefits for some people were that the classes would be at Deerwood, but that wasnt the case this Summer semester. Seems like all the classes are at North Campus.

Just got my order from Meridys today and tried on my uniform :)

Its so white, lol. Im glad the XL size fit me perfectly.

Supposedly so, but I was told summer would be at Deerwood also, which obviously is not the case. I would take anything you're told with a grain of salt, because it can and will change at the drop of a hat.

I got the Littmann Lightweight II SE Stethoscope and the basic cuff both from Allheart.com... found an online coupon code (for $10off) and spent $76.42 including engraving on the head of the stethoscope and embossing on the cuff (which in retrospect, the bfcuff embossing probably wasn't necessary).

I got my BP cuff embroidered with my name too. I guess I just figured it would be easier than having to find and buy a white or silver marker to write my name or to rig a tag to it. I bought the name tag for my stethoscope.

I spoke to the lady at Florida specialty and she said they delivered the polos to North campus last week. I guess we could just get them when we go in to class.

Does anyone know how the questions will be worded for the med term test. Do they give us a suffix and then ask us to write in the meaning, or is it complete words we have to tear apart into meanings. Is it multiple choice, matching? Do they give us definitions and we fill in the word? Just curious...

Another question from a nursing hopeful.

Does it matter which Chemistry class to take since the grade will not be included in NAT point system anyway? Did you guys all take Chem 1032C? Just curious.

Simply for the nursing program, I don't think it matters... However, I believe it has to have a lab which would be the "c" part.

If you think you may want to go on to get your bachelors, you will need to have the 1032c for another University to accept it. If you want my advice, take Rebecca Hailey. She is at Kent campus and she is fantastic. I am by no means good at math or science (chemistry combines them both) however, I got an A in the class simply because she was so good at what she does. I thought I wasn't good at chemistry until she taught it... now, I love it!

I've been wondering the same thing! I have been using the flash cards, but haven't buckled down to seriously study yet because I'm finishing up Micro right now. Does anyone from previous terms know how the tests are formatted? Fill in the blank, m/c, etc...?

It is multiple choice and honestly is not a hard test at all. You will be fine:)

take Chem with a lab - I made the mistake of not doing that. You will need the lab for a BSN in the future.
