Just found out that I got into the accelerated program starting in October, finally!! Is anyone else starting in the fall??

Also- I was wondering if anyone was currently in GateWay's program that could tell me where you guys do your clinicals, what the schedule is like... etc. Any info would be great!

what was your date and time stamp? my frient got placed in Gateway accelerated in October! My date and time stamp is 2-20-09. i am trying to figure out where i am on the list!

Mine was also 2-20-09, i think it was 8:03am, so you probably JUST missed it... but at least you'll have your top choice for spring!

Yeah...I am really happy now I know where I am on the list.congrats on getting in!!

I just found out only last week that I've gotten into the Fall 2010 Accelerated Program at Gateway CC.... My date/time stamp was Feb '09 also.

Our orientation is Oct. 11, and classes start Oct. 18, other than that I don't really know much about this. The projected graduation date is March 2012. I'd like to know too where we will be doing clinicals, if any of the classes are hybrid or online (that would be nice, as I'm working full time). October is still a ways off but I'm already happy and excited about this. They are supposed to be sending us packets in the mail with info on all of this, but I don't know when we'll get them - soon I hope...... Congratulations on being placed BTW :)

You go to clinicals at longterm care for block 1. People in our group went to Lifecare north glendale, lifecare of Scottsdale and somewhere in Tempe.

We only had clinical for 4 weeks, 2 - 8 hour days a week, and then 4 alternative clinical days which were 8 hours each spread out randomly in semester.

When you first start you will be going 2 days a week for like 2 weeks, then you will get up to 4 days a week, usually 6-8 hours a day. You need to complete your medpass, vital signs, and physical assessment practicum prior to clinical, so clinical starts about a month into the program for some and 2 months in for others.

I don't know if you got the actual orientation packet, but you need to have MMR, tetorifice, 2 step TB test (or chest xray), physical exam, chickenpox (titer/proof)/varicella, hepatitis B vaccinations etc. CPR card that will get you through block 1, needs to be for healthcare provider.

Some of the classes are hybrids (2-3 were), and I work full time as well. It averages out to be about 28 hours a week for 16 weeks or so. The thing that will take most of the time is all the reading, I think we were assigned 60 chapters +- 5, you don't need to read every page, but there is a lot of reading.

Once you make it through block 1 you are pretty safe, if you fail block 1 (

Thanks for the info.... I already work in a hospital as a nurse's aide, so I've gotten most of the shots and the two step TB test, which we have to get yearly - we also have to do the CPR thing yearly too. Been working as an aide for about six months now, hospital security before that. The clinicals thing sounds eminently do-able as I was assuming it was going to be 12 hour shifts like I am working at work now.... Eights in a LTC facility shouldn't be too bad. Thanks for the heads up on everything - I think one of the keys is staying on top of things and not falling behind or waiting till the last minute to do things. When I was taking my prereq courses I got to where I considered anything below an 80 percent as pretty much failure even though at that point it wasn't. I'm glad now that I developed that mindset because of the

OK, will see everyone around campus in the fall, look for some of the people who just completed your block, they may have practical advice.

I just accepted into the same program and I am super excited. Looks like we will be classmates!

hey could you PM me the syllabus if possible.

Has anyone who has been placed in the October co-hort at Gateway received the info packet in the mail with our schedule yet?? Also, does anyone know anything about how the financial aid works since we start mid-way through the traditional semester?
