Accepted to Chamberlain BSN in Jacksonville, FL Need Advice!!!!!!

Published

I have a question guys.... I just got accepted to chamberlain with alittle over a 3.0 GPA and an 85 on the hesi.. they accepted me for the summer session starting July which is only a week away... I am feeling that I wll not be able to start until October due to financial aid issues... Im dropping a previous school and they ahve already taken my disbursement for this calendar year 09-10 and I do not have time to save between now and a week for a high contribution amount... They say that my application info is good for one year, so I wouldn't have to re apply or anything, but that my committee acceptance was based on teh Summer session, and htey would have to re evaluate me against the canidates in OCT when that time comes... what I would do is try to take a couple classes that I KNOW i'd have to take in order to boost my GPA some more... Do you think I'd have a problem being reapproved in OCT?? Are there alot more applicants in the Fall versus the Summer?? Im just worried because I am dropping my current program, and would honestly appreciate the gap in time just to give me some time to get fiinancialy prepared... but i wont have a GUARANTEE of starting in October... Any advice?? I might retake the Hesi test again to see if I can get a higher score than a 85... but taking a class or two over the summer can't hurt to add to my file..... You think I'd still get in???? Let me know if anyone knows!!! Thanks!

Hello!!!

I have an admissions appointment with them tomorrw, I can ask him about it and let you know. I currently am a student at JU and want to transfer to Chamberlain. If you dont mind me asking did they transfer alot of your credits? And also can you Finance it all with FAFSA or do you have to come up with a certian amount before classes begin? I also take the entrance tests after my interview, were they hard? Ok I will let you how it goes and I will ask him that question for you.!! Good luck and congrats on getting accepted!!!:yeah::yeah:

KSPAZ,

I faced the exact same problem, and was told that the fall admission is more competative. The way I see it is, if I was accepted for the July start and had to decline for financial reasons (Since thier school is quite expensive and my financial aid was in use at another institution) you should be placed on top for the fall semester, but thats just my thoughts LOL. I have had more problems with my advisor requesting syllibi for classes that I have taken from other institutions. Schools only keep course description since the syllabus is written by the professors. Have you had this problem? Looking at all the classes that I have had transfered over I will only have 5 semesters to obtain my BSN. My advisor seems like she doesnt quite know what she is doing at times, and has given wrong information. I want to ask to be assigned to another advisor, but afraid that she will totally screw me over.

Yes I did, yes the teachers only keep their stuff for their current semester, then throw it away. Then trying to get a syllabus from a class you took like 4 years ago is impossible!!! Lol I got a call from JU and they gave me a seat for the Fall so I am no longer going to Chamberlain. Still freakin about the tuition though!!!Good luck to you:)
