Accelerated program at Linfield

U.S.A. Oregon

Hey out there!

I just found out that I have been accepted from the waitlist into the summer start program at Linfield. Since I am a little behind I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on where to get immunizations and the health check. Cheapest route possibe. Also I would love to hear from anyone else who's starting at the same time or any graduates who have advice. I'm a little nervous and very excited.

Any information would be great. Thank you!:yeah:

Specializes in Med/Surg.

I walk or ride my bike to school also 90% of the time. However, for clinical the school expects you to have a car. Sometime you are at clinical sites by yourself so you cant carpool with other students and the bus may not be reliable when you have to be at clinical in the wee hours of the morning or late in the evening. Hang on to the car if you can.

Thanks barleynhops, you've been so helpful. One last question (i think): you said we needed a laptop - but is portability really essential or can I just have a home computer?

Jessica!

You got in!! So did I!! Congratulations to us! I'm feeling a bit lost and behind too. This thread has been really helpful though. See you in about a month!

Hey Jen! Congratulations to you too! I didn't want to post that I got in on that other thread and seem like I was bragging. I know how hard everyone has worked and not everyone made it. I'm so happy that you did! I am also lost and behind, but I finally got my packet of instructions and I feel like I can get everything done in a month. Let me know how you are doing. :)

Jessica

I didn't want to post I got in for that very same reason.

So you did receive additional info in the mail... how soon after you received your acceptance did you receive it? I have received info on financial aid, but that's it. I saw the list of health screenings and vaccines from the Linfield nursing handbook online, but I was hoping for some more formal instruction. Hmmm, I might email Mindy.

I got the big packet of stuff two days after I gave them my deposit. I still don't have anything about the schedule or books, but it had information about where to get the health-stuff taken care of. I think I saw on here that the other things should arrive soon.

Oh good to know. Thanks!

Barleynhops-

Do you know if we will be needing the Taber's thumb index or non-indexed version. I am not sure what the difference between the two is.

Hi everyone!

I'm so glad that I found this link as I'm starting in the summer cohort too and am soooo nervous:eek: I'm glad to hear though that we don't need scrubs on the first day, for some reason I really thought we did. I'd like to know what books we need so I can order the Life Support one now. Has anyone done that yet?

I will be living about 4 minutes from campus (I got an apartment right off NW 23rd) so I'll always invite people over for study groups and stress relieving pow-wows :D

I can't wait to meet you all!!!!

Also, I'm trying to find the Life Support book by Susan Gordan online. Is the full title "Life Support Three Nurses on the Frontlines"?

Thanks!

I already have that book, funny enough. I bought it at Powells when I was first thinking of becoming a nurse. You should try there. I think my copy was ony 7 bucks.

I bought it off Amazon for about seven bucks including shipping. Haven't read it yet, hopefully it is a decent read. Anyway, the ISBN is 978-0-8014-7428-6. Hope that helps!

Just got it for $3.23!! Thanks. I heard from my mentor that the professor will send us some focus questions and it helps to wait until we have those questions to read. Apparently we'll have to write a couple of short papers on them. The book sounds interesting!

Anyone else getting really nervous since it's so close?
