Accelerated BSN 2021, worried about my stats

Hello!

I'm applying to accelerated nursing programs this upcoming Spring 2021(I received my bachelors in Psychology). I am so worried I won't get accepted anywhere. Do I even have a chance in getting into any of these schools? Any advice or information would be so helpful and appreciated!

I have a cumulative GPA of 3.44

For prerequisites:

Anatomy A

Physiology A

Microbiology A

Chemistry C

Statistics A

Intro to Psych A

Developmental Psychology B

I planned on volunteering at a hospital but it was shut down due to COVID-19. I hope to find another volunteer job soon though.

Duquesne University

Caldwell University

Utica College

Quinnipiac University

Drexel University

NYU

Moravian College

I am waiting to hear if I was accepted to a Summer 2021 ABSN program. I sort of panicked after seeing that NursingCAS had calculated my overall GPA to be 3.35 (my prospective program's minimum is 3.0). I have a 4.0 GPA in prereq courses and some volunteer experience. I called my aunt who is a professor to give me some perspective. 

While the programs you are thinking about may be more competitive than the one I applied to, my aunt basically told me that it's a black box. For example: Where do you fit in with the other applicants? Are your essays compelling? Does your academic record show a strong upward progression? Life experience? It can depend on many different factors. So I am choosing to remain positive about my chances. :)

I have read that schools accept people into their programs based on whether the applicant shows that they have the capacity to complete an intense academic program.  

Bottom line. I know I have what it takes to be successful in an ABSN program. Hopefully, my application in it's entirety conveys this. But if I don't get in this time around, I'll regroup and apply to different schools next time.  Believe in yourself!

I can't speak to all of the other programs, but I did also apply to Duquesne and Moravian, among others. I got accepted into Duquesne (which was my top pick! ) and am still waiting to hear back from Moravian. My undergraduate GPA for my first degree was 3.25 but my prerequisite GPA was a 4.0. Have you already submitted your application for Duquesne?

If you ask me, your stats are looking good! The positive to accelerated programs is that they really take a wholistic look at the applicants. I applied and was accepted to both NYU and Drexel - all As in pre-reqs but a 2.95 UGPA. I think you've got a great shot at either - just make sure you've got good letters of rec and a great personal essay for NYU! And Good Luck!!
