Accelerated BSN Texas

Published

Hi everyone..I just wanted to know if you all know of any accelerated bsn programs that are not so competitive to get into in Texas? I also wanted to know what you think my chances are of getting accepted to an accelerated BSN program in Texas.

I will be graduating this semester with a bachelors in biology and a minor in psychology. My overall gpa is a 3.3 and so is my science gpa. I know it's very low, but I have tons of health care volunteer hours and leadership hours. I've also worked as a CNA in Telemetry (about 2k hours) and I just got hired as a CNA in the NICU (super excited!!!)

I've already started my application for the accelerated bsn program for TAMUCC. What do you guys think my chances are? Did any of you get accepted with GPAs on the lower side?

Any suggestions/advice is welcome!!! Thank you!!

Hi,

Have you ever considered going to a CC to obtain an ADN-RN? Your situation is identical to one of my friend. He graduated with a bachelor is psychology with the same GPA, also have tons of experience in clinical settings as CNA. As of 2019, he already completed first year into the program. One more year and he would challenge the NCLEX for RN license.

I dont know if Texas have the same point system but in California, if you have your bachelor, you already had a leg up against other applicants by 10 pts. Secondly, CC nursing programs loves candidates with experience ( >500 hours will bring you another 10pts). The school offer tons of extra points for exp. Finally, CC is affordable.

I hope this help. Keep fighting and best of luck.

Sincerely,
