Accelerated BSN? Needing some advice!

Published

I am considering applying for some accelerated BSN programs, and I am in serious need of advice. For starters, I will provide a bit of background information. I graduated with honors in 2013 with a liberal arts bachelors. One of my minors was biology, so I have already taken most of the prerequisite courses required for nursing. Right after I graduated in 2013, I spent one year in an occupational therapy master's degree program. This was a huge mistake. While I passed the program academically, I failed two of their week long fieldwork rotations and was kicked out of the program. I have grown a lot since then, having worked full time for a non-profit since being kicked out of grad school. Considering this failed grad school experience, I am concerned that there is no chance I would be accepted into a nursing program. I really want to do nursing though, and I think that I would be much better able to handle the challenges now than I was three years ago when I started grad school. I was just wondering if anyone on here who is in nursing school would be willing to share their opinion on whether or not I would stand a chance of being accepted into an accelerated program. Also, what would be the best way for me to present my former grad school experience on the application? Would my best option be to call the admissions counselor and have a honest talk with her about my past before I ever begin the application process at all?
