Just wondering if anyone out there is applying to the accelerated bachelor in nursing program at MCPHS Worcester for spring 2015. I was just on campus for an information session and will be sending out my application this week.

Are there any current students out there that can explain what the program is like? Class schedule, clinicals, etc. Would you recommend this program?

I'm applying and praying earnestly that I get accepted. I sent my application in last week though.. Late I know. I'm so excited because I'm from Worcester but moved away for school. It would be nice to move back to be around family for a while.

Let me know if you're accepted. I imagine you'll be hearing from them soon. It only took 8 days for them to mail out my acceptance letter.

I've also applied and recently sent in my transcript. Yet, honestly I'm having questioning doubts about going to this school, if accepted. Since applying, I've given more consideration to the experiences of the others here who have attended, which were negative, and I've not since found one person who has a positive thing to say about the program.

I must say, first of all, that my per is really just a consequence of the reviews I have read of the program online, and my perspective might be a correct or incorrect understanding of the information I've seen. But, I've understood that many past students disliked the program because of the quality of teaching being inadequate in preparing them for the NCLEX, the poor structure of the program, the inaccessibility of the professors, etc.

That said, the school does appear to have a NCLEX pass rate of 97% based on 2012 results.

I've also read a lot of negative posts from students that graduated from this program. Most of them related to professors' lack of aid in the student's success. That being said, you have to take into consideration that this is an accelerated program and it should be understood that the student is going to be forced to self-educate some of the concepts and theories. It should also be understood that though the didactic phase of the program is pertinent as an educational base, it's the clinical experiences that will allow success in this program and in the real world. With all the amazing hospitals and clinics in the area, I believe the school is worth the price tag. That's why I'm attending this spring :)

Now that I'm saying this, watch me fail out after the first semester...

On another note, does anyone have details about the scholarship awarded with this program? Is it a $6k deduction off tuition or a check from the school?

So, I called the school this morning to follow up on whether they'd received the transcript I'd sent in a few weeks ago, and they told me yes and that, actually, a decision was sent out to me yesterday. I asked, "what is that decision," they said it's GOOD NEWS. So, I'm in! I'm waiting for the letter to arrive.

Loots, you make good points. I do agree that the value of the education is really determined by the persons in it, since at this level of study independent work makes all the difference. I just want to make sure that if I do accept their offer to attend that I will be in an environment that encourages me to succeed. I do look forward to challenging clinicals.

Do any of you plan to practice in MA afterwards?

Hey guys.. TO all who have gotten accepted, I am looking to apply to this program among others.

My overall is a 3.0 with a pre-req of 3.5...I also have 3yrs direct patient contact work experience as a Orthopedic Tech. I was just hoping you guys could give me an insight on what my chances would be in being accepted? anything in particular the school is looking for? etc.. just want to get a bit of an idea on what my chances are on being accepted. Maybe some of you are willing to share your GPAs and your application experience.

That's excellent, congratulations!! Hopefully I'll meet you next year.

MA would be ideal. It seems new grads are having a very difficult time finding work though, averaging 6 months before they hook anything. I'm just taking this one step at a time. Still need to pass the NCLEX :cyclops:

Has anyone thought of a specialty they'd like to pursue?
