Hi All!
I have decided to take the plunge and leave my career as a mental health therapist to gain a BSN in Nursing and hopefully move straight into MSN program. Is anyone else applying to Duke in the Fall??
okay twois- that's wild. I was thinking BLUE BRACELET too!
how about a rubberband on the wrist? or a secret question.... like "are you familiar with the Durham farmer's market?
I can't wait- it's going to be so fun.
Oh my other question to the peanut gallery: are ya'll bringing someone with you for the actual day? parent? sig other? My mom has decided to accompany- and I'd like for her to at least be able to tour the school...however, I don't want to look like I can't be left unsupervised.

Haha if someone randomly came up to me and asked me that question, I would find it a bit odd. I don't know why, it just sounds funny, like a secret code. Aren't a lot of us staying at the Millennium? Maybe we could meet that morning and follow each other over/carpool. I was going to ask if someone would be willing to give me a ride so I don't have to get a cab or something. But to easily identify me, I'll be the somewhat short Asian in a brown pantsuit and white blouse! :)
I am not bringing anyone with me, but I don't think it would be weird for your mom to come. My mom came with me to my other interview where I was the only one interviewing that day, and she toured the school with me.
kspills,
regardless of whether or not my mom actually spends the day with me there- you are MORE THAN WELCOME to hitch a ride over with us from the Millenium. We can fit 5 total. So if anyone else is flying in from out of town and staying @ the M, you are welcome to my mother's back seat.
She is the spitting image of Diane Keaton...and I got red hair of of the deal.
Also- are we still on for BBQ? Can a local spearhead that adventure?

Ha! I am... I'm going bring the boyfriend. He's coming with me to Durham, but I haven't yet quite convinced him he needs to spend 7 hours learning about a nursing school he has no intention of going to... so, whether I convince him or just flat-out bring him, he'll be there.
I can't help but wonder if we'll have nametags, "Hello, my name is..." style. (Hopefully someone can actually answer this after today!) If so, we could totally put a little signal-symbol on those...
Hey Ya'll!
Is everyone staying at the Millineum? I want to be able to meet everyone but we are staying at The Indigo Hotel. My boyfriend is coming with me but not to the actual day. I'm sure he will be holed up doing some work drinking a beer somewhere!
I'd love to meet up for Que and a cocktails :)
I still have not gone shopping...tomorrow is the day. I will report back with my wardrobe choice. Also I am a bit sad about the "wear comfortable shoes" thing. I am pretty attached to my stilettos

Wear 'em! And toss a pair of some comfy flats into your bag for the walking parts...
I am basically the exact opposite of a fashionista, so look for me in a nice black suit that didn't take too much shopping to find and comfortable Clarks pumps. I tend to gravitate towards "what can I wear without looking like a doof?" when it comes to clothing. (I am looking forward to scrubs, yes. And I saw in the nursing handbook that Duke nursing students wear dark blue scrubs, which makes me SO happy... the ones here at UF wear white. Ew!)

I was thinking about that last night! Like the carnation in the lapel, except, you know, not... hehe.
I can't think of anything, though, that would be easy to identify, not out of place, and yet not so simple that someone else might accidentally be wearing the same thing... I can see myself walking up to someone with a blue bracelet on or something and chattering happily away about the forums while this random person with a keen eye for lapis lazuli mentally calculates just how crazy I am...
