ABSN Duke Fall 2010

Hi All!

I have decided to take the plunge and leave my career as a mental health therapist to gain a BSN in Nursing and hopefully move straight into MSN program. Is anyone else applying to Duke in the Fall??:yeah:

I think what Kebunt is saying makes sense.

If someone's a weaker student, having healthcare experience could give them the leg-up that they need to make it through the program. However, if you're a strong student to begin with you can probably get by with less direct experience in the field (as long as you can articulate that you know what you're getting yourself into). Every student comes in with their own individual strengths and weaknesses-- and healthcare experience could help balance the equation for folks who historically haven't done so hot in school.

Who needs healthcare experience when you have experience deciding what color sweaters women would like to buy over the holiday season!

You and me both! I got the email today about next Friday, which didn't say much about anything besides "be there at 8:30," which I knew. The email though said something about "registration, breakfast and pictures" starting at 8:30am though - what pictures?! Nobody said anything about pictures! :eek: I hate being in photos!

Okay, one more night of me looking at this thread, then that's it! It's a compulsion! Um, I am guessing they will take polaroids to have them in our file after interview so when they are talking about us later for decisions they can look at the photo to remember who is who. I used to be in show biz and in cattle call auditions they would take a polaroid, even if we did bring headshots with us. They want to remember what we looked like on that day.

Ruby- I used to be in showbiz too... at least for a hot second! Hope there's lots of time for us to discuss that in person!!!! Break a leg this weekend.

I've been accepted!

Totally unexpected news...She called this morning to tell me, and I am so relieved! Apparently my interview didn't go as badly as I thought :)

Just to give everyone with later interviews some piece of mind, she said that I am one of only a few people with timing issues because of other schools and they felt strongly about my application, so they went ahead and made the decision. Otherwise they'll still be waiting until after Duke Days, so no worries. If anyone is counting backward from 77, right now I am the only new admit, and there are a few more that deferred from last year...

It's know it's weird timing because everyone else is still having to stress over interviews and everything, but I am totally pulling for you guys! I can't wait for you all to get the good news so we can all celebrate! :loveya:
