Hi All!
I'll be applying to CSUSM for Spring / Summer 2021 cohort. This will be my 2nd bachelors. This is a big and serious step for me since I don't have any science background. I haven't taken the TEA's yet. I still need to take all 6 prerequisite courses listed on their website (I have to pay out of pocket for them >.<). I'm planning on taking 3 prereq courses Spring 2020, and 3 prereq courses Fall 2020.
Questions:
Is starting in Spring 2021 even doable for me??
When should I take the TEA's? I'm going to study a study guide for it (I have no science knowledge :/ so wish my luck). My brother says it's about high school level science? What about you guys?
Any additional comments or advice to help me will be greatly appreciated! <3

I would be interested to hear any replies on this! I would be in same position in a year so any advice is nice!

Did either of you guys apply? I saw that their deadline for Spring 2021 was closed online. :(

Likely the earliest you would be admitted would be to the Summer cohort. I would suggest for you to apply when you are close to finishing as they only keep your application for about 1 year (if I recall correctly).
Apply after you have taken your TEAS and during your last semester finishing up the pre-reqs. Then when you are done update your information.
Personally, I would suggest taking the TEAS after you are done with the pre-requisite course work, so that you will score higher. The good thing is that CSUSM will let you take your TEAS an indefinite amount of times and will only count your highest score, so it is less pressure (not all nursing schools do this, some only take your first score).
Good luck!

Hi All,
I too was looking at applying for the Spring 2021 cohort. I am surprised it went up & was closed soo fast, especially since they have people apply until your last semester of pre-nursing reqs :(

I reached out to an advisor, and she said Fall 2020 students are actually delayed until Spring 2021 due to the current pandemic.. so that makes sense as to why the apps closed. Prospective students will be applying to the Summer 2021 cohort instead.

Spring is the most competitive start date because it is based at the San Marcos campus, and not the Temecula campus. But of course it's doable, so long as you get mainly A's in your prerequisite courses and do well on the TEAS.
I took the TEAS before taking physio and micro, and I score like a 93. It's possible to take it whenever, but ideally you want to take it after you've take anatomy, physio, and micro, because these are the big content areas. I also highly recommend the TEAS study book. It isn't extremely difficult, but it much more difficult than high school science and I would not take it without studying.

The senior cohort (ABSN 30, which was me), graduated on time this May. ABSN 31, is still scheduled to graduate on time this Summer; however, all cohorts after that are delayed by 1 semester.

I just got back my evaluation with 26 points. According to statistics it’s not enough. I will try to retake my TEAS.

Does anyone know how many letters of recommendations do we need? Thank you!
