Hey everyone,
Just wondering if anyone out there has applied to early admission for fall 2010 to abington hospital dixon school of nursing?
I am reading through the threads and see that there are a few applicants to AMHDSON that were accepted. Congrats ! I have applied for the evening/weekend program and just received a call that I have an interview scheduled. I just handed in my application yesterday. Can anyone share with me the interview process, they told me it was a 15 minute interview and I am under the impression its with a group of people from the school. I also wondered if every applicant was given the courtesy of an interview or if it was a situation where they removed the definite no's and then the maybe's etc were called in for the interview. Any info is most appreciated! Good luck to you all!
It is overall an informal interview but remember it is still an interview and it might be the most important one of your life (don't know your background so it might not be) but I went into mine treating it as the most important one. This is your chance to sell yourself and explain to them why you want to be an Abington Nursing Student. They throw no curve balls at you it is very relaxed but they ask questions and they want honest answers to those questions. They were very friendly and respectful towards me and it was a refreashing professional experience and I enjoyed it.
I don't know if everyone is offered an interview or not but I would assume that you need to meet their requirments to be grant an interview. I hope this hels you out at least a bit.
2004newmom,
Although it is more difficult to complete nursing school while raising a child and working full time, it is not impossible. There are several students in our e/w class that work full time and have small children. By reading your post, it sounds as though you have yet to complete the prerequisites, is this correct? If you do not already have any college credits you may want to take a few prerequisites part-time at your local community college while researching the best nursing school for you. Most nursing schools require at least the following courses
English Comp I
Intro to Psych
Intro to Sociology
Anatomy & Physiology I
Anatomy & Physiology II
Microbiology
The science courses tend to fill up very quickly.
Feel free to ask if you any additional questions
I also treated it as the most important interview I have ever had. But, I agree with Poff, it was very relaxing, there were no trick questions asked. They just want to get to know you. Come prepared with a few questions of your own... but not questions you can find on the web site. For instance, I was curious about any bsn programs they were affiliated with.
They ask you to write an essay before the interview. They provide you with a question for you to answer.
Dress business casual. Remember to smile.
The interview is very relaxed. I know you will feel nervous going in, but as soon as you sit down, their demeanor will relax you.
Good Luck to you!!
Thank you for the info about the interview. I go today at 3:30 and will feel much better when it is through. I am a little nervous about the essay portion but I am sure I will pull something out of my hat lol. I am not positive which questions I will ask but I have a few jotted down. I also planned on discussing BSN affiliates.
Hello all,
I just had my interview with Dixon SON this evening, I think it went OK-they were all super nice... it made it kind of hard to tell what they were thinking... does anyone know if they interview everyone who meets the baisc requirements? I still have 3 pre-reqs to do (I have a B.S.degree already) and I scored pretty well on my TEAS test. But I was thrown off b/c tonight they said everyone gets a letter by March 1 at the very latest (I thought it was mid-February)... I'm pretty nervous I said I would be open to the day or evening option. Anyone out there who recently interviewed get a similar response or have any feedback????
Thanks!
poff
