AANP Exam 2020

Updated:   Published

Hi Everyone!

I recently passed my Family AANP exam. I promised myself and God if I passed I would share how I study for the exam. This website was very instrumental with how I study for my exam-- Thank you to everyone out there for all their tips and help.

I graduated back in Dec of 2019. I took my exam in July of 2020. I started studying about the second week of May. I study 3-5 days per week for about 4-5 hours per day. I study a lot more the few weeks leading up to my test date.

Here is how I prepared:

I used the Leik review book (took notes when I read the book). I would read one subject at a time. Next, I would listen to APEA -Hollier videos on that specific subject (took notes when listening). Then, I would do the Leik questions specific for that subject, then FNP Mastery questions for that specific subject, then did the specific subject questions in Family and Adult Gero NP Cert. Questions 3rd ED Amelie Hollier book. I did this method with each subject. I would write done rationales to questions I missed.

Once I was done going through everything. I read over the Leik book again, but only read her exam/ clinical tips in each subject.

For subjects or topics I wanted more information on or if I was having trouble with a subject, I would read Fitzgerald NP review book.

Next, I bought Latrina Walden Exam Solutions. I purchased the Bronze Clinical crash course. I listen to all the videos twice. I suggest purchasing this a weeks out from your exam. These are comprehensive videos. They are not sorted out by systems. But they are wonderful! I took notes while I listen to them.

I did purchase exam 10 exam edge tests. I did a total of 5 of those. I also purchased one APEA predictor exam (I did the exam and the extra bonus questions that came with it). I did one PSI exam (scored a 64%); took that about 12 days before my exam. Which scared me to death. I also did a PSI exam when I was in school as well (back in Sept 2019). I think there are a total of 3 Family practice exams you can buy.

I did Latrina Walden live review session about 16 days before the exam. I also did Venecia Clark live review session about 9 days before my exam. Highly recommend them!! I took notes during their sessions. They are both amazing. If their sessions are full; email them about getting in.

I used one notebook where I wrote done all my notes.

The week before my exam I read over material. I stopped doing questions. I did tell people my test date. Then I would ask them to please pray for me. I also prayed a lot. I believe in the power of prayer. The Lord is so good. I prayed over my test that the Lord would prepare it, the environment and the music I listen to. I truly wish everyone luck and pray that everyone passes their test. Try to think positive. I know easier said than done. I failed the NCLEX the first time so I was terrified. Remember though, this is not NCLEX ? You can do it! The Lord is with you! Also, don't let practice test scores scare you. I did not score very well all the time on my practice tests. If I can do it, anyone can!

I truly hopes this helps! I will add things as I remember, if I missed anything.

God's Blesssing!

I failed the AANP twice and I am devastated. I have no idea how to pick up the pieces. I studied everyday for 5-8 hours a day. I did a live review with a duo on FB (Penny & Ruphy), Leik book, Walden crash course, Sarah Boes review and Hollier videos.  I am attempting ANCC in a few weeks and I am terrified and my confidence is shot.

Hi do you a study partner? I’m took the test and I didn’t pass . Can we study together?

Sorry I took the test

Hi

To Ready2Nurse & Paredemn, I have been praying that Lord would show me how I can help you. Please do not give up! Keep trying! Don't listen to the negative/ anxious thoughts that come to your mind. You can and will be successful. The Lord has brought you this far, he will bring your through this!

I can study with you both if you are interested?

I am not going to guarantee anything, but I will for sure try my best!

I would also for sure suggest  Walden live review session and Venecia Clark.

Thank you so much! I would love a study partner.  I have not tried Venecia Clark but have done Walden's Crash Course. At this point anything is helpful and I am beyond grateful.

God Bless!

Sounds great. I would be happy to try and help. I am trying to think of a way to contact you. I do not want to put my information on here. Let me think and I will try to get back to you.

OK great. I tried to see if I could private message you, but I could not.

I will think of something as well.  Maybe we could do a Google meet or zoom?  Audio only is fine.

Same. I tried to private message you but, was unable too as well.

Yes Zoom or Google sound great to me.

OK! Let me know of a good time for you and I will set it up.

I really appreciate your help

You can try now if you like.
