louisiana state nurses association relief fund:

we are establishing a relief fund for our nurses who have been displaced due to katrina. we are accepting cash, gift certificates, etc. checks should be made payable to louisiana state nurses association relief fund and can be mailed to lsna, 5800 one perkins place, suite 2-b, baton rouge, la 70808.

relief kits for medical workers:

we are collecting supplies for the emergency medical workers. we need personal items, scrubs, blood pressure cuffs, toiletries, underwear, socks, etc. send or bring them to lsna, 5800 one perkins place, suite 2-b, baton rouge, la 70808.

nursing students:

lsna is also helping coordinate an effort to get displaced nursing students back into their own or other schools of nursing. please email us at [email protected] with all your contact information, including where you went to nursing school and how far you have progressed.

there is a temporary lsuhsc-son command center at 225-578-7522. students previously enrolled there can call that number and should also register on the website at www.lsuhsc.edu

employment opportunities for displaced nurses:

gulf states health services, 9 inpatient rehab and ltachs located in bogalusa, covington, hammond, laplace, raceland, denham springs, clinton, abbeville and new iberia, are offering displaced nurses an opportunity for employment until the recovery from katrina allows them to return home and to previous jobs. please contact millette wolfe at [email protected] (225-216-2279)
