I got a post from my state rep today about the job market- and I replied about the issues I read here w/nursing jobs being hard to get between oversaturation of new grads, and older nurses returning to work w/economy issues. He answered back. Today.
I threw in some stuff about the whole customer service issues being dangerous to patient care...still waiting to see if he replies to that. But at least he heard- and he totally agrees with the need for schools to be honest about what's available once students graduate. He said he's talked about that (I'm just recently getting his posts/"friends").
At least you'll know where they stand...:)

copy ... excuse.
Good for you. I was going through the TV channels last night and stumbled across a local TV station interviewing people who received monies through a grant to talk about their experiences. It's a grant for Pacific Islanders to become RNs and they all said that they are being told the monies good and the jobs are plenty. I had to turn the channel ... the over saturation of RNs here in the islands is astounding. It's been this way for quite some time. Only the extremely experienced need apply or you had better know someone. Of course there are the exceptions but they are few and far between.
The bull that's being fed to these new students just bothers me. The fresh outlook is being fostered by nothing but lies. Four of them even quoted that the baby boomers will be gone by 2014 and it's going to be jobs everywhere because they're all gong to be so unhealthy. Well; no one told me to Ly down and dye in 2014 ... it appears I haven't received the memo.
I'm going to write my state people as well, enough is enough. I would hope that more of us on this forum take the time and write their respective Congress and House Representatives.

I know what my reps think. Calling them, writing them.... Done it before, and it just makes me mad when I get the form letter back from them.
