A Rhyme by an Unemployed Nurse
I really would like to land a job
The thought often causes me to sob
Why has no one wanted to hire me?
In my interviews I express my love for nursing with joy and glee
I know I am strong, wise, and smart
My passion for nursing comes from the heart
I think I know what it takes to be a great nurse
It has nothing to do with the color of my purse
A great nurse possesses the desire to care
Some of her patients may be the size of a bear
The nurse's duty is to educate and teach
She should listen and never preach
An amazing nurse is a leader of example
She is at her best when she does not trample
Florence N. was a nurse who knew her stuff
I learned from her there is never time to bluff
Florence also said that patients need fresh air and sunlight
I wonder how she became so bright
She died several years ago
Her spirit and wisdom will continue to flow
I am ready to work as a real nurse
If I get lucky I will buy myself a nice purse
I will fill my purse with knowledge of first-aid
Perhaps I can quit my job as a maid
Where will I land my first job as a nurse?
I really hope it does not cause me to burst
I did not choose to become a nurse for the money
Although I might be able to buy some extra honey
I chose to be a nurse because I like to work hard
The evidence shows in my back yard
When I started my pre-reqs at the age of twenty-one
I found out that nursing would be challenging, but fun
The schooling required a lot of effort, tears, and sweat
Many of nights I made a fret
I became a Licensed Practical Nurse at the age of twenty-three
The day I passed the NCLEX my heart felt warm and free
Nursing school was quite a challenging year of my life
Often times my classmates and I endured a strife
I learned how to measure blood pressure and give a shot
Even how to take care of a patient who smoked lots of pot
But most importantly of all I learned how to care
Even when a patient has dirty underwear
I hope very soon I land a job as a nurse
I would probably look nice carrying a new leather purse
