A&P Quick Question help!

I am just making sure I am not nuking this but...

If the achillies tendon is cut, would you be able to Plantar flex? Yes or No?

I say No, BUT I realize there are soleus but I think those are connected to achillies tendon too right?

Posterior tibialis, peroneal muscle group and plantar muscles also act as plantar flexor as secondary actions so people with a torn achillies may still be able to plantar flex.

In the case of an Achilles tendon tear there will be weakness in plantar flexion. Look at the mechanism of injury, palpation and Thompson test when looking for a torn Achilles. When in doubt get the mri - they are much easier to repair before they become shortened and retracted.

so you would say a yes?
