A & P 2 and Nursing I together, I am that CRAZY???

Published

Hi, Everybody. I need some advice. PLEASE HELP. Im a 23 year mother of 3 year old twins. I plan on taking Anatomy and Physiology 2 along with Nursing I, starting in Jan.2005. Is this impossible??? Yes, I am a mother of 3 year old twins, but I have the fortune to not have to work, although I WILL BE BROKE. I have a WONDERFUL support system. Many students at my school have been telling me Im going to fail, and I need to just take them separate. At my school A & P 2 must be done before Nursing I or you can take it at the same time. Basically, with my hard work, dedication, not having to work, and excellent support system is this possible. I really want to do this, I hate to rush it but sometimes I feel like you gotta do what you gotta do even though I know I will be VERY VERY VERY VERY STRESSED!!!!

i am taking microbiology and i am mom of two year old babygirl. it is hard and time consuming but with support and time managment skills is doable. i have lots of friends taking A&P2 with our nursing courses and they do well on both. i am As student but now oncentrate more on nursing courses than other one, so i just need to pass it with C or better. and it is really first time when i do not care if i got A or lower from mocro i just need to go thru it and nursing is priority for me. i can always come back later to repeat micro for transfer.

it is doable and set me up with good time managment and study skills for future.

good luck to you.

Just make sure that you have the time to study hard. I took them both at once and got As in both. If this is Nursing I as in your FIRST NURSING CLASS it very well may be an introductory, theory based class and it may not be as in-depth as the rest of your years will be. A good thing is though, if you come across something relating to A&P in your Nursing class that you dont understand, you'll have your A&P book to help clarify. If you were able to grasp A&P I, than you shouldnt have any problem. Good luck!

I'm taking microbiology and A & P I at the same time next semester, with my nursing courses.

This semester, I'm taking chemistry, nutrition and child psychology in addition to several EC nursing concepts exams.

On top of that I am the caregiver of three small children and a disabled husband. I spend an average of 5+ hrs. a day in the car. I work nightshift every other weekend. I still have to fix supper, wash clothes, dishes, etc..

You will have to worry with a lot more than a nursing class and A&P at the same time the futher you get into nursing.

Good luck.

I don't see any difference in doing this and taking say .... Pharmacology and Acute Care at the same time. And in nursing school you will definitely take more than one difficult course at a time. So I say, might as well learn to deal with it now because you will definitely have to in the future.

You can do it. It will be tough but you can do it! Go for it! Good luck.

I went to nursing school with a student who was taking Nursing, A&P, English Comp, and Sociology. She got in at the last minute fresh out of high school. She of course didn't have to work, and didn't have twins.

Good luck!

I was told by many nursing students as I was going to enter that I needed to take my A/P's outside nursing school studies..and I was SO glad I did!!! It took me an extra year before getting into nursing school, but to me it was well worth it. I was able to focus on A/P more closely, and really came out of that class with an excellent foundation of vital information that helped me to make connections quicker in RN school studies! So my advice would be...if you can, take it outside of RN school..but if this is too costly or time consuming...be very good at personal time management, and perhaps find a very good study partner to support you (I did, made all the difference!).

Starting the year after I graduated, my college changed the prereqs to include taking A/P before entry to RN school. Smart move! I lost 4 of my closest friends in nursing school because they just couldn't pass A/P in the throws of RN school...and you were only allowed one time to pass A/P (because if you weren't done by the first year of nursing school, you were at a serious disadvantage as studies excellerated).

In fact, my best friend missed her A/P mid term by 0.1% and failed A/P (I never got that, I thought you had till finals to pull yourself out of that..but guess not). She was dismissed from RN school, and was told she would not be accepted back in...EKK! She was heart broken and told me she wished she took the time like I did and took it outside of nursing school studies.

But again, I was lucky and got this information to take it outside nusing school during my first years of prereqs by some nursing students in my bio classes. They begged me and I gave in...they have my most sincere thanks, and I too warn students to consider this possiblity very highly.
