A&P II, Microbiology, & Statistics!

Published

Okay, so this spring I will be taking A&P II, Microbiology, and Statistics! I know this is going to be a lot of work and I expect that. But do any of y'all out there have experience having taken a load of classes like these?? I'm really worried! I have to take these classes in order to apply for nursing school on time. Any advice??

I took A&P with Statistics, and I didn't think it was too hard (along with a history and psych class) First semester freshmen year, my schedule was: Microbiology with lab, an intensive chemistry course with lab, a Spanish course, a writing course, and freshmen seminar. I won't lie, it was a lot of work, but definitely doable!

I didn't do all three classes at the same time like you, but I thought mine was comparable. Good luck! [emoji4]

On experience, Statistics came pretty easy to me, even though I'm not a math person. The type of math just makes sense and can be applied to real life. Also helps if you have a great teacher! A&P 1 and 2, I had the same professor. Obviously it's a rigorous course, but not too bad. I recommend taking full advantage of office hours and extra lab times when available. Microbiology also wasn't too tough from what I remember.

It's a lot of memorization and remembering the order of steps. Also take advantage of open office hours and extra lab hours. Stay prepared and on top of the material for all classes - don't let yourself fall behind.

Good luck in the upcoming semester [emoji4]

Go and talk to a counselor/advisor for nursing or science. I was given some great advice that if not sure to take it easy with pre-requisites. She didn't recommend to take more than two science/math classes at a time. You pretty much have only one shot at taking these classes and your GPA needs to be very competitive to get accepted into the nursing program. You basically need all A's and B's. Everyone's abilities are different and people will tell you they did great and some didn't. In the end it's your career on the line. Would you rather play it safe and know you will succeed and will get accepted but at a later semester or would you risk it and potentially never get in? What is your GPA so far and is the program you trying to apply to starts once or twice a year? FYI statistics is hard even if you're okay with math.

I took A&P II, Microbiology, English II, Oral Communication, and Theatre Appreciation at the same time. I ended up making straight A's. I think it's very doable if you focus and work hard.

I was strongly advised not to take A&P II and Micro at the same time, so I pushed Micro into the Summer. That's tough TS, good luck for sure.
