For us, anatomy and physiology are two separate classes. I took physiology and microbiology together (along with statistics). It was manageable but it was a lot of work.
Those classes, with a full-time job, will leave no time for anything else so be sure to plan accordingly. It'll also help if you've got some vacation days that you can cash in for a day off here and there as needed.

Thats 2 of 3 classes I am taking this semester, and I am usually an A student and have 2 mid B's this semester. --Trying to get them up to A's. It's doable, but the grade may suffer. I am also busy with my 3 kids who are in soccer, one is select that requires more travel. So I think it just depends upon how much free time you have.

I'll be joining you on the Micro and AP II train, and I'm taking Chem as well.
No life, but then a relaxing summer before I start the nursing core.

I took A&P II, Chem 2, Pharmacology, Micro, and Respiratory lab and lecture (Lots of physics and advanced cardiac and thoracic anatomy) all in the same semester. I also worked Sat. and Sun. in a bagel shop (early AM), and Micro lab was Fri. 1730 until 2330. I passed with A's and B+'s so yes it is doable, but don't plan on having time to do ANYTHING else!! My wife said she forgot what I looked like!
wow.... right now i'm taking a&p I w/ a full time job from 9-5 everyday and i'm having a hard time getting A's on my quizzes and exams. soo much studying to do yet so little time. it's hard to compromise the grade w/ wanting to accomplish and get this 2 classes out of the way so i can start and apply for the nursing program. *sigh*sigh* i'm torn...should i or should i not take them both this spring? i can take micriobio this summer but one of my gf advised me not to since summer is only an 8 week semester and i won't get to learn a lot and absorb too much info in that semester.
advise needed =(

It's different for everyone. I took APII and micro together, I do not work but I do have 3 small kids. It was do able, and even helped, alot that was covered in micro was coverd in ap 2 as well. for example we did blood in AP the same time as immunity in micro. so covering the wbc and immunity went hand in hand. Both have a lot of work to them and they are both lab classes so you have to allow a lot of time for studying, they were by far my two favorite classes and really really enjoyed them.

if your struggling to get the grades you want with just AP1 I would say do not take ap2 and micro together, AP 2 is much more indepth and deals with harder subjects. Its frustrating you want to get things moving but sometimes slow and steady really does win the race.
Took the words out of my mouth catzy! Many classes cover the same material, it'll be beatin' into you by the time you're finished! I was in a bit of a different situation, I was already in the program and I wanted to get ahead, incase the %@#& hit the fan and I needed to take something over. I also had to get special permission from the deans office to take so many credits. (I told them I did'nt work!) Either way, it's not easy, summer classes may be shorter in duration, but usually the class/lab hours are the same, just be advised you may have an exam twice a week!

I hope it is doable too!! My plan is A&P II, Micro and another 3 credit class in the winter. I have A&P I with 4 other classes now and most people think I'm nuts, but so far I have A's on all my assignments and tests. I have 4 children, but I don't work. My classes are scheduled so I have 1-3 hours between some of my classes while my kids are at school. That way I force myself to stay at the library and study...if I come home....they'll always be something here to do to distract me. I think it will be very doable simply because I imagine that many things will be related in the classes.

Wow, I have been wondering about taking A&P II and Micro together this spring also. The only other class I will take is Algebra. I DON'T work (though I have children and a traveling spouse) and I'm wondering if I can hack all that! The problem is my sciences have to overlap somewhere, because I plan to take Chem, O-Chem, Physics and Calc, so maybe getting all the Bio done together would be better than Micro-with-Chem. I also love microbiology and read Lynn Margulis in my spare time.
That's my reasoning, anyway, but it's important to me to get As so I'm dithering. I'm hoping my new advisor, who is also the Chem prof, can help.
