This semester will be my first time taking A&P I. I'm very scared but also kind of excited since I finally get to learn about our bodies. The only classes I'm taking this semester are A&P I and Psy 210(statistics, a grade of C or better in elementary algebra). My friend, who is from Nigeria and has a language barrier, recently took the HESI for the school we are trying to apply to. The school uses HESI A2. I'm worried about what I'm going to learn in A&P as I'm not sure if they will cover everything we have to know for the HESI and for nursing school. The first biology class we had to take, before taking Micro and A&P, was very broad on maybe how a teacher could teach it.
The biology class we have to take prior to micro and A&P, my teacher didn't cover a whole lot of DNA stuff or the process of meiosis and mitosis. That's the only thing we didn't touch. With that bio class complete, chem complete, and Micro complete, I haven't looked back and bit my lip for taking that professor for bio because we haven't covered meiosis and mitosis yet in any of the prereqs classes I've taken so far.
When I took the first bio class, I had a full workload. I saved A&P I and II for last towards the end of my associates before applying for nursing school. I'm taking A&P now and have a half-time workload(PSY 210 and A&P I w/ a lab). I'm not exactly sure if that was a good idea. I don't work, don't have to worry about bills, so the time I'm not in class I could use for studying. Not trying to brag, just trying to get a good feel of my odds of succeeding but with rate my professor comments and pre-nurs students comments about how tough it is, do you guys think I will be okay earning an A for A&P? I mean with the amount of time I have on my hands I'll have.
Have you ever taken A&P where you weren't taught things you wish you were taught that would have been helpful to you? Or were you taught everything and it was enough for the entrance exam and for nursing school? Are all A&P teachers different and the course FULL of variations? Or is it pretty straight forward and they can cover everything?
Also, I hear you should put in about 10-20 hours a week for A&P. Is that too much or too little?

I took 14 credit hours last semester while homeschooling my kids and made an A in A&P I. People told me it was a very difficult class, but I found it pretty easy. Lots of memorization, but I was so interested in the subject, that studying was enjoyable for me. I will say I went to the tutoring offered by my teacher and I did all the extra credit offered. But I think your two classes are doable.

At the end of this semester, I'll remember you and come back with my results..
