I live in Uinta County...and I love it here. I don't think the winters are bad at all, yes it gets cold...but it is not as unmanageable as others have said. I lived 20 miles out of town where the roads were not plowed and managed just fine. We get a handful of bad snow storms a year and school had to be shut down twice. The only place I would not reccomend moving to is the Green River/Rock Springs area...it is dirty and drug ridden there. The people here are kind and welcoming to newcomers. Sheridan is nice and they do have a good hospital there...my aunt is currently getting her radiation tx there and likes the staff. I'm sure moving here from the south will be an ajustment, but I am positive you will be welcome with open arms.

Good Luck

Thanks so much for the reassurance! Where exactly is Uinta County, what towns are close by?

cheyrn and hope- I must agree with you completely about the hospital situation! I can't wait to leave- I have been here too long- I want to go back to accredited hospitals- teaching hospitals- staff that doesn't stab you in the back to get ahead... Anybody looking for a nice house/acreage in Park County??

My husband didn't get in. He can retry in August if he wants, but he isn't sure if he wants to. I think his pride is a little hurt, so we will see. We drove up to Laramie from Cheyenne and the drive was beautiful. I had a few nose bleeds for sure! It was so funny, I was out shopping in Cheyenne and it was about 50 or so and all of a sudden it started snowing, the BIGGEST snowflakes I have ever seen! I was panicking... but everyone else was so calm and collected. It was snowing so hard I could barely see the road and so I rushed back to the hotel (and got lost, but that's another story lol) and then it just stopped hehe! I met a lady at IHOP who was very nice and informative but please don't flame me...but... the teenagers up there look kinda scary!! They look like they are seriously rebelling against the "cowboy way", they look like some crazy skater punks!! It was nice to see the area, I've never seen rolling plains like that before. I am just to the wooded areas so it was quite a shock. All in all, it was great.

ilmbg, I am confused.
I have been wanting to move to/near Park County when I am done with school here in Oregon. I start my RN program this year.
Are you in Cody or Powell, those are the only hospitals in Park County, right? I thought that both hospitals there were accredited. They are not?
I heard that Cody was a great place to work. If you are/were there, why not?

I also am looking into Casper/Douglas area too.
I am an avid outdoors-person and love the cold/blowing snow stuff. Crazy, huh? I also love mountains, hunting and fishing, so either part of Wyoming should be good, but I DO want to find the right fit for a job.
Thanks.
