Chest tube wound left open

by grano5

I need some advice with regard to a chest wound left open from a thorocentesis performed by way of a chest tube. After 3 months what was thought to be healing okay, is an incision that remains open. Should this be sutured? Was it left open deliberately perhaps? The patient is 78, is diabetic, was on a ventilator and the thorocentesis was supposedly done to remove fluid from the lungs as opposed to needle aspiration. This was another place to heal and probably could've been performed by way of aspiration as opposed to the more invasive chest tube.
