- Dec 20, '09 by smartnurse1982oh, and has anybody used betadine sol to irrigate a foley? i have never heard of it and dont like using it b/c how am i going to see clots,etc? its so dark to see anything through.

Iodine is diluted with saline before irrigating, a dilute solution is gentler on the bladder and may make it possible to see bloodclots.
