Basic instructions for changing a suprapubic catheter are available from the national library of medicine
    http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/e...ons/000145.htm

Iodine is diluted with saline before irrigating, a dilute solution is gentler on the bladder and may make it possible to see bloodclots.
