Saudi Arabia

I have been applying for jobs through a nurse recruiter for work in Saudi Arabia. Anybody have any experience with this? My question; is it normal for the process to take so long? I have submitted all the paperwork and have been in constant communication with the nurse recruiter regarding the position. She tells me that the Nursing Supervisor is "still reviewing my file." I know that things take much longer in the Middle East, but would be interested to know if other people who have worked in the Middle East have experienced this or if I should register with another agency and start the process over again. The Nursing Sup of the of hospital I have applied to has been "reviewing my file" for almost a month now. Any insight into this from another American Nurse who works or has worked in Saudi would be greatly appreciated.

I have no experience in Saudi Arabia. But I'm curious: How would I get started with looking for work there? How did you find a recruiter?

I am assume you are looking at the UAE and not Riyahd???

What is the pay/benefits like to go to Saudi Arabia?

Actually I am not looking at UAE. I tried there for months unsuccessfully. I only have an Associates Degree, so the pay offered for a position with that type of degree was terrible. So onto Saudi I went, where, according to the nurse recruiter they do not care if your degree is 2 or 4 year. Do you have experience with Saudi?

I used to work in Riyadh, KSA and , believe me, everything works SLOW in that country. But, just curious, someone told you that you can work with an AD? Others may know more about this but 2 year nursing programs in the UK, Australia and New Zealand are different from the one here in the States. Maybe that's the reason why it's taking so long for them to review your documents. Good luck, though, and keep us posted.:nurse:

I worked in Riyadh KSA for 1 year in 1997 as a dental hygienist. I am now in the US with a BSN. I am from England and was recruited from London. It took about 7 months for everything to go through for me. They only issue visas periodically. Be sure to know what you are getting into. It was a good experience, but know what you are allowed to do before you go. I was naive to think I could travel etc, but it is very limited and you sort of just work work and work. Try to connect with someone who knows the culture as you may be in for a little shock!! Good luck!
