Is there anyone who can fill me in on RN jobs in France. I prefer the city hospiitals, I work in ICU currently. I have many years exp in Med Surg also. Would like to hear from someone. If you know about pay scale and such include that also. Thanks, bambi007;)

If one is not from the European Union, it is almost impossible to get a visa that will permit you to work there, unless you have a skill that they have a shortage in.

Language requirements for France are quite strict and they will not issue a license if you cannot pass their lanugage exam.

And to the American RN that was asking in one of the earleir threads here: It will not be easy for you to work in France at this time, you will need to pass their language exam, as well as their licensing exam; and then have to jump thru all sorts of hoops to get a visa to work there.

Notice that it was also mentioned by Fred about having EU citizenship, as an American, you do not have that.

The EU essentially has a hiring freeze in effect, jobs first go to their own countrymen, then to others that hold a EU passport, then those that hold a visa to work in the EU, and then to Americans and others.

Unless again there is significant work experience in an area that they have a shortage in, there is not going to be any visa issued.

Question: Some have said if from Spain can work in France. Does anyone know how to get work in Spain. I know French can read and understand but I have no practice speaking. I am fluent in Spanish. Maybe in my case I can get work first in Spain. If so does any one know how to go about getting work in Spain and what the pay is like there. It seems that someone posted that many nurses come from Spain to France to work.

Does any one know or if from France can ask one of the Spanish nurses about the system in Spain.

Maybe I can start in Spain and make my way to France.

Thanks Angela

You have to hold at least a EU passport, this is what was meant by being from Spain and then working in France. Work in Spain will not be any easier, as they have the same requirements that the other EU countries have.

You will have to pass their language exam, and their Spanish is not the same as the one that is spoken in the US, as well as their licensing exam in Spanish as a start.

"So, I am 4 years of service, and when I was working full time in surgery in clinic, I was making 1500 euros per month. When you work at night, you earn 10 more %. As a "intérimaire" (agency nurse) at night, I am making 1950 euros per month for surgery."

1950 euros = $2327 US dollars (ie. about the same amt I make in Seattle)

1500 euros = $1790 US dollars

**** are taxes taken out of base pay? if so, what %?

and a reasonably experienced RN in the UK working a rotating shift pattern will make 1500 GBP / month , and at the top of band 5 you are making just short of 1500 gbp/ month on plain time rates

Hi I am a nursing student here in the US. By the end of this year (DEC 2008), i will have taken the NCLEX. and soon after work in the US as a nurse. However, my long term plan is to try working in france as a nurse. I started studying french 1 year ago and will visit next month for 2 weeks. I will again visit longer (possibly 3 months) next year and I am in search for an internship where I can experience working along side a nurse in france at the same time being immersed in the are to know if I would like to live and work there. Anybody know any internships like this available? I plan to also enroll in french courses on the side. Currently my level is elementary-intermediate and I will continue course until the time I go there. I searched for internships/schooling for my situation but nothing has come up for nurses. pls help!

Welcome

Unless you have some EU relationship you will find it hard to get work permit. Much has already been written about this. We also have a couple of threads on France and their requirments

You will need to learn French to be able to work in France

HI FRED! im married to french national n soon ill be joining nxt year coz ill be graduating here in the PHilippones of BS in nursing. KIndly send me the link again in english endufrance coz i cant open the link. Ill be taking my local board here before ill join my husband nxt year. Plz tell me what to do ... how can i let france acknowledge my diploma.. what steps in need to do? whose person or agency in need to contact to help me and know all needed informations... or links that will help me and my husband understand all proceudres on what to do. By the way im trying my best to study french, i alrdy finish level 1 of french language ill continue again nxt summer...

tnx for all...

All of their information is in french, just as I told you in your other posts.

All of their contacts are done in french as well.

There is not one thing that you can do to prepare for working in France until you have a completed set of transcripts and have passed the NLE. The NCLEX is only for the US so you do not need to do anything with that at all.

Best of luck to you but I would focus on getting thru your last year and studying french as well. And if your husband is a french national then he can easily read it and give you the information.

France essentially has a hiring freeze in place, so you are not going to be seeing much in the way of agencies doing anything for there. The only reason that you will be able to work is because of your husband.

And you are also going to need a visa that will permit you to work there, has your husband applied for it for you as well?

Thanks for all the informations.... im sorry for being a pain in the ass for asking much, but i guess i jst wanted to know all info for not to look stupid... Already send the link to my husband and he will explain to me all soon this august when ill visit him. No he havent applied for my work permit yet. Do he have to do that now? if im still be joining him nxt year?

the french embassy is offering me before the long stay visa, means 2yrs no coming back home in philippines but i decline coz i told them i have to finish my study 1st so they jst gave me a month visa to visit my hubby this august...

Wait until your husband can translate for you, there is not one thing that can be done now. You will need the visa that will permit you to work before you move there after you graduate. That should be done before you go there permanently.

You need to focus on passing your last year as well as getting thru the NLE. Without that, then there is no way for you to proceed on with anything else. Those are two major requirements for you to complete.

Best of luck to you.
