Waukesha County Technical College for nursing program?

I am also interested in the ADN program at WCTC. Can anyone offer us some comments about the program, petitioning, etc.?

I completed WCTC LPN program May 2007, I will be petitioning for the LPN-Progression this September. I loved the entire program it was well organized there were no surprises, the instructors were able to help you get a complete understanding of the material that was presented. It was a wonderful experience.

The petitioning process is simple. First you need to apply to the program, gather your transcripts from high school and any other colleges submit those, be sure to complete a form that allows them to review those credits so that they can be transferred in. Make an appointment with the nursing advisor; bring unofficial copies of your transcripts so that you will know if you meet all the requirements. Complete an info session on line. Finally wait for an appointment to a program planning session.

Do you know if most people get into the program that petition? If I have good grades and meet all the requirements, will I likely get in? I just want to make sure my efforts are worthwhile. I was going to attend MATC but understand that even if you have good grades, you won't likely get in. So I want to make sure this is a worthwhile effort. Thanks for your help.

I attending an info meeting on February 18 the nursing advisor stated that everyone who had petitioned during the last petitioning process was admitted into the program. The program is definitely worth looking into. I currently live and work in Chicago, I will be relocating back to Wisconsin just for this program.

Hi, in regard to your interest in WCTC for nursing school: I am a recent graduate of the ADN program. It was probably the hardest thing I ever did in my life, but so worth it. Be ready to work hard as the classes are beyond challenging and the exams are very difficult. Not to scare you, but you will have to study like you never studied before in your life! Don't worry though, as the teachers are always available for help. The teachers really want you to succeed and see you become a great nurse! The math you will be expected to learn is rather difficult, but once again tutors are available in the Math lab for help. Before you know it you will be doing math that you never thought you could do. (At least that was the case for me!) You will begin your clinical studies almost immediately. You will be amazed at all the different facilities you will have the opportunity to learn at. Pediatrics, mental health, med-surg, ortho, neuro, day surgery, operating room, long term care, and cardiology are just some of the clinical rotations you will have. With the addition of the Simulation lab about a year or so ago, the school is on the cutting edge of technology as well. The skills lab is also fantastic and always open so that you can practice your skills for your practical exams. Finally, the passing rate on the NCLEX exam for WCTC is 96% on the first try. I believe that is the highest in SE Wisconsin. I'm telling you, you can't go wrong by attending WCTC for nursing school. The school is truly top-notch! Sorry, I can't help you with the petition process. I don't think this was an issue when I began my studies.

I completed all of my pre-clinical prerequisites at Milwaukee Area Technical College, and since moving to Waukesha County decided to pursue my clinical process at WCTC. I am seriously already glad that I did. At MATC, the entire administrative staff is a complete mess, and they're rude, rude, rude. Parking stinks and is expensive, it's in a not-so-great neighborhood, and you spend a great deal of time being surrounded by many other students who are loud, disruptive, and really don't care. (I am speaking about general student population, not clinical nursing students)

I have been treated so well by every single member of WCTC's staff, from registration secretaries to the program advisor. It is quite obvious that the students who are enrolled there are serious about their education, and every age group is well-represented. It is a well-laid out, beautiful campus, and I couldn't recommend it more.

I am planning to do this as well, I actually plan to attend WCTC Fall of 2010 since the classes are cheaper there than at MATC anyway, and the school is a MUCH better school from everything that I have read. I look forward to attending there. Its a bit of a longer drive, but worth it in my opinion since their passing rates on the NCLEX is 96%.

I am surprised by all the positive feedback. This hasn't been my experience but then again life is just a matter of perception. Mine my be off. I find the fact that asking to talk to a counselor is like A HUGE deal.

As far as a two-year degree... HaHAAAaHaaa ahhhhhhaaahHAA haaaha
