Anybody taking ADN to BSN online through UW system?

by Misty1

I would sure like a study buddy

I'm taking a humanities course this summer with my son who is getting a math degree from UW Madison. Then in the fall I start my BSN classes.

Hi!
Just wondering how your BSN classes are going! Where did you get your ADN? I went to UW Madison for education and am now going back to school at Moraine Park in Beaver Dam. I start ADN courses in Jan. Just thinking ahead for when I get to the RN to BSN point :-) I would love to hear what you think. Was it difficult to get in? Thanks!

Its not hard at all to get into the RN-BSN program. I'm going through UW Green Bay and would highly recommend them. Congrats on getting into the ADN program. Did that take a long time?

I finish my ADN in a few weeks...have a BS in dietetics, but plan on getting to work on a BSN. I was just looking over some of the UW Green Bay program information. It will take a while to figure out where and when, so I may as well start shopping now!

Hi Misty! Moraine Park, along with most of the WI tech schools just went to a petition process instead of a waiting list. so basically you take the NLN test and apply. I sent in my application in the beginning of oct and I start in Jan. so no it didn't take long, but it is the first semester that they did this so I don't think as many people applied because they didn't take their NLN exam in time. so I think I got lucky. I also applied for part time and they keep a certain number of spots open for that and I don't think that many people want to be part time. It will take me 4 years, but I think that will work out best with my family. I am just thinking ahead to when I am done and want my BS. Kind of getting ahead of myself :-) Are you working as a nurse right now? Where did you go for your ADN? I never even knew that Moraine Park existed so I am hoping that it won't be difficult to get a job when I am done since it isn't the UW or MATC and I would want to work in Madison. We'll see! How long will it take you to get your BSN?

Yes I've been working as a nurse for quite a while now. Graduated from nursing school in '96 {I'm old!!!} ..its been quite a journey

I started nursing school through UW Green Bay this past fall taking 7 credits online. UW system has a program thats almost all online so thats helpful with my work schedule. I must say its been a really good experience so far. I talked to UW ParkSide and UW Milwaukee and of course UW Green Bay. The ladies at Green Bay are absolutely wonderful and very helpful. Got a bad feeling from Milwaukee and Parkside. Glad I went the way I did. It'll take me a while to get my BSN also but whats the hurry really? Unless you want it for further education like Masters or you want to get into management. I have had very little trouble getting a job because I'm ADN quite frankly I'm glad I went that route.

hey Misty!
I am glad that you like the uwgb program. isn't it so nice to be able to go part time?! I already went to school once-to Madison for elementary education-and now we have 2 kids so I definitely couldn't go full time. Moraine park where I am going was the only school I found in the area that part time was an option. do you work in a clinic or a hospital and what area? I am glad to hear that you have never had a problem getting a job as an ADN. The more nurses I talk to, the more I hear that so many nurses have their ADN rather than BSN. A job after all this would be good. :-) Have a great week!

No you won't have trouble finding a job as an ADN. That being said ADN programs are kick-
butt. The ADNs come out ready and running.
