WGU RN to BSN. Starting 4/1/13 Anyone?

Nursing Students Western Governors

Published

Hi getting ready to start in April. Goal is to finish in 6 mths. I would love to be part of a "support/encouragement" group. :0)

Specializes in Home Health, MS, Oncology, Case Manageme.

Did you have any prereq to take? I have 4 if my appeal goes through. I'm worried the prereqs are going to make it take longer than 6 months. I hope the fact that I'm barely working and my kids are grown-up will help.

I am an LPN and hoping to start the prelicensure program in the fall. Anyone know anything about it?

I got pushed back to a start date of 5/1. So good luck to you all who are starting in a few weeks!

I'm sorry your start date got pushed back, but you can use the time to prepare! Unless things have changed you can see the rubrics and some of the work involved once you have access to the student portal. You won't have access to some of the materials but possibly enough to get a head start? Just a thought. Or you can use the extra time to enjoy before starting the rat race....

Hi I am also starting 04/01/13 RN-BSN and would like to be part of support group and my goal is to finish in 6 months. Good luck everyone

Hi guys I am RN with ASN, and I'm interested to get my BSN could you give me any idea how to starts from where to start and what kind of Prerequisites I have to take because I am nurse from other country and I just passed my NCLEX-RN examination It's very hard to find a job that's why I decides to get my BSN ! Thank you!!!

Thanks so very kindly for your advice. Wow! This is really giving me more hope. Yes, I am also a total complete neat freak, but that might have to go away for a while. My kids are all so good and excellent student themselves. Already, I have Stat, Biochem and Physical Assessment to do. Would that be too hard already to do? I have a couple weeks to read up on biochem and stat to help me. I am not good on math and science. Yikes! I am worried, but I do want this for myself. Congratulations to you! Many thanks, Maria.

HI! Hope to hear from you again. Meant to post reply to you. Congratulations! Thanks so very much for your advice. Wow! Your a super-duper mom! I have to start with Biochem, Stat and a physical assessment class. The first two are hard already. Did you have all prereqs completed? Thanks so very much again!- Maria

I did biochem first as well because I'm not a fan of the sciences. I worked my butt off watching the lectures and working on the tasks. Those were the best jammie days as I'd spend the day working on my drawings and models. I even enlisted my 7 year old to help me color them in. I didn't have stats or the assessment class so I can't comment on those. I did have a math requirement, mostly algebra, and I found out how rusty I am with math! I had 4 pre-reqs along with the nursing classes...nutrition, biochem, math and a writing class. In the end it was like 35 credits total. I switched to the MSN track at one point during my term and that made one of my classes not count, one I didn't have to do, and added two (I think). I think you'll do great!

Congratulations on passing the NCLEX! That's such a major milestone outside of finishing school!

I'm not sure, but I've read on the boards that WGU will only accept students who are currently working as RNs. My understanding is that this may be a new rule? I'd recommend talking to an admissions counselor to find out if you're eligible to apply and/or be accepted into the program.

Congratulations again!
