WGU Prelicensure Dallas, Texas

Students Western Governors

Updated:   Published

Hi All,

I wanted to get everyone's opinion and I'm just curious to know what my chances are of being accepted into Texas Pre-Licensure program. My application is complete according to my enrollment counselor. I am just waiting for after November 1st to be notified if I got into the pre-licensure program. I understand that I would have to apply to the clinical portion while completing the pre-licensure part. I currently have a 3.53 GPA, working to improve that and my TEAS adjusted score was 82.7% on the first try. I'm just worried that I'm not as competitive as others to get accepted. I have been rejected by other schools. I have also taken the HESI A2 exam with a 85.43% on the first try.

Has anyone else been accepted to WGU's Pre-Licensure program? If so, what was your overall GPA and TEAS V Score? I just want to know if I even have a chance of being accepted. If you are in the program now, what is the program like? How are the clinicals, and where are you doing them?

I got accepted to the Houston cohort 11/1 and my GPA is a 2.6 and I have an 86.7% TEAS. They look at your overall package. I've been in the medical field for 6 years as well. Think positive and good luck!

I am waiting for the Dallas cohort to close on Nov. 1st and 2 weeks after that to hear if I have been accepted or not. Hopefully I am. Let's stay in contact so we can guide each other along the journey.

Sure. Let me know when you get in. I'm trying to post more because theses helped me in my decision and perhaps it'll help someone else.

Thanks SmartLexus,

I am hoping to receive notice within the next 2 weeks. I'm trying to post more also to help others get an idea of nursing school application process.

By any chance, would you know any tips on how to get a job as an ER Tech?

No. I'm a unit coordinator in Houston and I got this job because of someone at my church 6 years ago. Do you have your bls?

I just wanted to update everyone and say that I have received the anticipated phone call from my enrollment counselor yesterday and I'VE BEEN ACCEPTED INTO THE PRE-NURSING PROGRAM AT TEXAS! I'm very excited and nervous at the same time. I will keep everyone updated about the process and my progress.

Thank you mistyp88,

Congrats to you too on your acceptance. I have already had my intake interview with my enrollment counselor and spoke to the admissions coordinator regarding my application status. I'm good to go once they bill my tuition. I'm just waiting on my orientation to be available in mid-december. Let me know how your phone call goes.
