I am looking at WGU prelicensure but am still missing BioChem and Micro. I looked at Straightline but they don't offer either. Any online resources anyone can suggest? I have previously taken Chem but it has been over 10 years. Also can anyone suggest any accelerated programs in the LA area that won't bankrupt me? Thanks!
Micro can be done online through Ocean County College -Microbiology Online at Ocean County College. I took it through them with their quick course (shorter than a regular term I want to say 8 weeks, but have to go look to be sure.) Berkeley offers a self paced biochem class - Introductory Biochemistry course - UC Berkeley Extension Those are both online courses. I can't help you with the LA area stuff.

I heard that the program is 2.5 years... Do any of you know what classes you are actually doing the first 6 months? I am not sure if I should do a 2.5 year program when I can do West Coast University and get done in a little under 2 years because I have a lot of classes done...

Does anyone know if it's difficult to get a job after they graduate from here? Since it's mostly online, wouldn't some employers think it's not "good enough" since there's no physical class?

Lunacat..my understanding is that since they have clinicals in some of the best hospitals in area that it's not an issue.

As for WGU as opposed to West Coast University, West doesn't have such a good rep along with the fact that they recently got credited a lot of colleges do not accept their degrees if you ever want to go on for anything higher. Plus even if you have less than two years at West Coast, they cost an arm and a leg...along with an entire house. Is it really worth it to you?

Count down....still pending the following course work:

A and P's are in progress with Straighterline. A and P I, done and taking final this Friday
A and P II ( hope I will complete by mid June)
Biochem (Will register on Monday with Huntington College of Health Sciences and also hope to complete by mid June)
One more humanities- In progress, will complete by end of May

Micro is the only hold up. Trying to get a distance course approved with virtual labs. This one is coming from a regionally accredited school. Crossing fingers that it gets approved

I took Micro through Ocean County College and they accepted it. It looks like they have some quick terms coming up this summer. Microbiology Online at Ocean County College

Hi Teresasupermama-Thank you for the info. I did look at Ocean County and found that they were not offering a five week summer micro, but I did find another alternative:-) thanks again!

I know our cohort is Wishard, but some of the others are going somewhere else I think. I am commuting so I don't know the area well enough to remember the other hospital name.
