I just couldn't take Indiana Wesleyan anymore. I could kick myself for going through them in the first place; I could be done with by now.

Regardless, I will be starting on September 1, and hope to be done with my BSN by January.

I am considering continuing with my MSN, and then doing a post-MSN FNP program.

If you don't mind sharing; what was/is the problem with Indiana Wesleyan? I had this school on my list for RN-BSN and I want to make sure I make the best decision before hand. I am also considering but I haven't decided if I want to the the NP or education route. Please enlighten me.

It's remedial learning. The instructors that they have are not truly qualified to be grading APA format (the last instructor I had to correct 5 times by going to the book and showing her she was wrong) they do not participate in class and the format of the program is over 18 months. It's much too long and there are tons of hidden fees that I was never told about. I was told that books would be included in my program, they are not. I was never told that for every CLEP and DSST test that you take they charge you a $25 per credit hour fee just to add that to your transcripts- that can get pricey. There is no feedback with the advisors. I asked mine twice if I could enroll in a Statistics class. Basic, every day statistics. I got a 3 page email about programs and not one answer to my stats question.

Overall IWU was simply NOT a good fit for me. I need something much faster paced and much more appropriate to my learning style. I am a learn on my own gal, and I prefer to much at a much faster pace than I am allowed to at IWU.

YMMV.

Thanks, I think I'll be striking that one from my list. Right now I guess it's between Slippery Rock and unless something just as good and just as inexpensive comes along. I'm going to apply for financial aid but I'm not counting on it which is why I need a school that's not so expensive.

I am currently enrolled in bsn prog. any tips on writing the papers? i passed my first assessment but it took me three tries. they are pretty exacting on the standards.

sweettart, how long did it take from application time to actually being able to sign up for classes at ?

I'm thinking of dumping the whole Univ of TX - Arlington AP RN-to-BSN program and applying to WGU. i've been waiting for months to hear something from UTA. i may as well be talking to the wind. WGU is looking better and better.

Krysy, I have a sort of unique situation. I applied back in February this year when I was looking so they had all of my transcripts and info. I literally had to take the readiness assessment, I am doing my interview today and I start the first of September. I don't know how long it normally takes, but if you start now, you could probably start in October.

As you can see, I just transferred yesterday. I have no advice for you on papers. I plan to use PERRLA for my APA formatting.

Thank-you..

Hope ends up being a better fit for you :)

If you apply, they receive transcripts & fafsa, talk to an enrollment counsler, and take the basic assessment before the 18th of the month, you'll be in for the first of the next month.

Welcome! I made the decision to transfer out of my program (Frontier School of Midwifery RN-MSN) in May and I've been doing since July 1. Just today I finished my second class. I'm working at a snail's pace, totally me and not the program. I have regrets that I didn't do this from the beginning - I lost 8 months of my time, and spent $6K in tuition. I could be done late this fall if I had started here. Ah well.

Again, good to have you with us!

I haven't taken the basic assessment test yet, I have been putting it off. I have all transcripts sent, financial aid processed and my job does tuition reimbursements. So why haven't I taken the test? I suck at math!!! I'm just hoping the math portion isn't that bad and I'm able to get past it. I missed the deadline to get in for Sept 1st because of my fear. I plan on taking it this weekend....praying.
