Hi all, just wondering how everyone is doing--especially those who have been waiting to see if they can start on Wednesday. I finally finished the EWB, and had my first phone call with my mentor. She seems very nice! I have been poking around the website looking for any info that I think will help me. Also have been browsing through the Communities. Anyone else have any news?

Hi rnrules11! I am starting on Wednesday with you. I am scheduled to speak with my mentor tomorrow. :)

Hi RNRules - I'm starting Wednesday, 8/1 as well. I spoke with my mentor last week for the first time and am scheduled to speak with her again this Wednesday. I'm happy with how it's going so far. Good luck to us all!!!

Not so lucky here, the one school with my med terminology and my Eng. Comp 2 JUST sent my transcripts this week, although I paid for same day shipping the first week of July :(

So no August start for me :/ and I just gave notice at my first nursing job after only 3 weeks, it was God Awful...not a great week for me!

Looking ahead, school starting in Sept, I plan to whoop butt and finish fast, Ideally I want to be done in the spring, but we will see and off to get a new job where I can actually work as a nurse and not a chauffeur!

Good luck to you all this week, very excited for you and an tiny bit jealous!

Hi Chaisaci - I'm sorry you're unable to start 8/1; that's really frustrating. At least 9/1 is just one month later! Take care!

Hi Nurse_Jaydee and teacherturnedRN--Glad to hear that you are going to be starting on the 1st with me. My sense of dread has diminished and I'm now hopeful about this journey. I actually feel like it may not be so bad after all. My mentor suggested starting off with a nursing course first, which is probably a good idea. I will be speaking to her soon to set up the degree plan, so I'll have a better idea of what's ahead. I hope we can all find time to keep each other updated on things, and offer moral support!

chaisaci--I am sorry for your troubles. I sincerely hope that everything falls into place for you. I thought that I was going to start earlier also, but had problems with transcripts, etc., too. As it turned out, this start date works out better now for various reasons. Maybe you will find that it is true in your case, I hope! I emailed the transcript department and was helped by very nice people. Maybe you could try that, too?

Good luck to all;)

Teaherturnedrn thanks, it is what it is I suppose and at least I get my summer break!

RN Rules11 It is very frustrating for me because I have been working with my enrollment counselor since the spring and it really isn't fault, it was one of my old colleges who took forever in sending my transcript. Hopefully it all gets squared away soon!

Congratulations and good luck to all of you starting tomorrow!

I'm sorry you hit road blocks into starting tomorrow, that would frustrate me as well. You have such a positive outlook though that no doubt you will do great in the program.

May I suggest that once everything is set up and you can see your required classes in the portal, maybe you can get started on some of the stuff? I've been working in the math and nutrition lab for about a week now, and once my classes were listed I was able to see every task I had for them and the rubrics, so I've been doing a little work ahead without even officially starting. So maybe you're actually in a good place that things could be settled weeks before your official start date and you can do the same. When I spoke to my mentor a week and a half ago that was her suggestion to me. I even did my first pre-assessment for math so I could see exactly where I needed to focus my study.

So another positive is that you might actually gain is extra "pre-term" work time!

Hello to everyone starting tomorrow too, and best of luck to us all!

Hi Nurse Jaydee - I live in Laguna Hills! How about you?

I live in West Covina! I spoke to my mentor today and she said to start getting ideas for the Community Health Practicum since we live in California, a regulated state. Have you given any thought to this yet? PM me with your email so we can talk privately. :)

Thanks for the tip, I am waiting on the "final" eval of my transcripts and if all is the same as I was quoted on the phone I only have 7 NSG courses and nutrition. I hope to start as soon as I am able and finish as soon as I am able!

Good luck to you all and congratulations on your next step in your nursing education, be proud you are doing an amazing thing!
