Starting WGU RN to BSN program August 1st

Nursing Students Western Governors

I'm on track to start 's RN to BSN program August 1st. Just waiting to get all my transcripts in and evaluated. Anyone else starting WGU in August?

When I asked my enrollment counselor why my ADN didn't allow me to have all "requirements satisified" by my ADN, I was told they had changed. I was using by the post by DreamNurseRN, who posted an awesome compilation about , transfers, classes, etc. I was told that was how it used to be :crying2: Hopefully this is DreamNurse's info link https://allnurses.com/western-governors-university/lowdown-wgus-online-524424.html .When she applied, an ADN met all the requirements and just the core nursing classes were required. I like her information a lot better!

Yessss.. I am enrolled officially to start on August 1.. No sign of transcripts being evaluated yet though! How can you do so? I mean be enrolled and not know what you are starting out with- core nursing courses or pre-reqs? Kinda confusing! Have you guys paid already? Did Shawn talk to you about that yet? No mention of my immunization being missing yet too! :)

My enrollment counselor is Brandie. I sure hope I can find out all courses I need to take (and thus be able to estimate how long it'll take me to finish) BEFORE I pay for the term!

You sure can! That's what I did. "New students pay by the 22nd of the month prior to their start date" per the website. So, we have until July 22, plenty of time for them to evaluate your transcripts;)

I am also on track to start on 8/1. Also waiting for my transcripts to show up. Final Interview scheduled for Monday evening, from whwt I hear it is really a formality. I am really getting excited now and anxious to start.

My transcripts were "lost" for awhile, but they were finally found and evaluated. I am surprised at how many classes I need even though I have an ADN. After reading through the WGU RN to BSN threads, I was hoping to only need the core nursing classes. They have changed the requirements recently, so I wish I had applied last year. Anyway, probably will be starting Aug. 1st too.

How many courses do you need to take? I also have my ASN and only need nutrition plust the 7 core...wonder why it's different?

My final interview is on Tuesday, I can't wait to start, because I just want to get done, lol!!!

YAY! Nice to know a couple others with the same start date! How long do you think it will take you to complete? I have to do the 7 core nursing courses and nutrition, I am planning to do it in 2 terms.

I did the program in 4 months - 7 nursing core classes, no pre-reqs. The RN BSN facebook group is great for advice and tips.

Thank you DanaRR :)

What are the additional classes that you need?

I saw in another thread that the application fee can be waived with a referral? Can anyone tell me more about this?

I'm not really sure why that is. I'm going to try to find out. Maybe I've been given the wrong info, since it appears that some with an ADN are still getting their requirements met, while others are not. The classes that I appear to need are: Research (Language and Communication), College Algebra, Statistics , Humanities course, Humanities Interpretation, and Biochem. Whew! Then, of course, the EWB and the 7 nursing courses. Does this sound like a lot to any one else? I was prepared to do just the EWB and the nursing courses. So depressed
