Tentatively accepted to the RN-BSN through 's online program. Lalalalala yay for me! Nervous as hell about going back to school....but its gotta be done!

Anyone have any experience with WGU? Negative or positive?

I start the RN-BSN program April 1st. I graduated with my RN April 2010 and now for in a HCA hospital. Luckily I get 10% off tuition for being a HCA employee. I hope to complete my BSN in the 1st 6 months **fingers crosses**. My co worker stated his wife completed her is 2 months and he is hoping for 4 months. I on the there side have 3 young children, the primary bread winner and a husband who is in school. I really hope this works out well. They are SO vague in describing anything, you almost have to wait to start to find anything out. I also will be receiving grant money so I hope not to use tuition reimbursement and have to commit 2 years to my hospital. Good luck to all and I would LOVE to hear from others who have done or are currently in the RN-BSN program!! Also any tips would be welcome

Hi, just seeing if i could get an update. R u still on track to finish in one semester? How is it going? I too think are very vague, could you elaborate? Any tips?

I am currently enrolled in the RN-BSN program and I love it! I have finished 3 courses in one month, yes ONE month. If you are a go-getter and don't require a lot of hand holding, this is the program for you. I have 3 courses left before I graduate. They are CCNE accredited too. I receive weekly phone calls from my mentor just to touch base and see how things are going, plus I have access to course mentors and message boards for any additional questions. Yes, there are a lot of papers to write, a few proctored exams, but it is very doable. Again, love this program and I am so happy I went with WGU. I researched tons of programs too and kept coming back to this one as I love to work at my own pace. The price is great too! Good luck!!

udpate please, did u finish in 6 months? i hope i love it as much as u!

Well, what I was giving to understand by the person I spoke with on the phone (and I also graduated in 1999) was "it all should (I use should carefully)transfer even after 10 years." However; the school will decide on what they will accept, so it's really down to them. I guess we will have to wait and see.

grandma.dee,

I'm not sure who your were asking but I started in May and absolutely love it. I plan to finish up my classes and graduate before this time next year. I really like the flexibility that I have on doing my class when I want. There is criteria to meet, but it falls inline with what I am able to do. Honestly I could have finished this 6 month term allot earlier but I was pacing myself.

RN2064,

How did they work with your transferred credits and work experience? I'm under the enderstanding that if you are already an ADN-RN you will probably complete the needed courses within a year?

Well I graduated with my ASN from a school seeking NLNAC, but it wasn't approved for initial accreditation. Most of my credits transferred in but not all did, I believe because of the accreditation issue. I know of a fellow classmate that graduated the same previous school as me for her ASN who is also now a student. The only difference was that she also had completed coursework elsewhere before which she transferred into our ASN program. Now at WGU she literally only has to complete 7 total courses now. Which is the standard. She can definitely do that within a year at WGU and she just started in August. I had considerably more classes than that to complete for my BSN (17 total), but with that being said I did have allot transfer in. I even had a class from the early 1990's that I received transfer credit for. Most ASN grads get something like 98 transfer credits and I only transferred in 76. So let the school evaluate your previous education because they do offer generous transfer credits. Each person is different. They never took into consideration my work experience. I don't believe they do that. Too bad that they don't offer that. I can say they are very affordable and I would recommend them to any RN seeking a higher degree. For me this is my third time in school. First I graduated a diploma LPN program, then the ASN program, and I am truly considering continuing on at WGU for my MSN. If you any other questions that I could possibly answer please don't hesitate to ask.

Hey,

I was just wondering if anyone here is in/went to and lives in NY. I am deciding between WGU and SUNY Delhi - WGU seems amazingly convienent, I am just concerned that hospitals will prefer NLN... does anyone have any expereince with this?

Anyone attending PRE-LICENSURE DALLAS TEXAS ? THANKS

I am seriously considering 's prelicensure program. I was curious if anyone can elaborate on job placement after completely their RN. I am in CA and I would like to know if anyone has had any problems with hospitals/employers recognizing WGU as an accredited school? Also does anyone have any insight as to how long the BSN pre licensure program takes?

Thank you :)

WGU only started their program in CA in 2009 so their first grads might be entering the job market now. As for the opinions of employers, would be the same as for graduates of other schools. Employers care about your license status and your nursing work experience before they consider your education, if they consider your education at all. Not a worry for those who are pursuing regular staff nurse positions.
