I was informed AFTER paying tuition that starting with the 9/1 cohort will no longer give a BSN on the way to MSN despite being assured on multiple occasions throughout the acceptance process that I would be if i informed my academic mentor that I wanted that. I was told there are no appeals or grandfathering in. I just thought this should be put out there for any others considering WGU or starting on 9/1 who may not have been informed of this.

They apparently will now give a "certificate of completion" for the BSN portion but will not award an actual degree.

I am changing to RN to BSN and will likely pursue MSN elsewhere.

They did this with the business school about 6 months ago. It used to be that if you still had some time left in your term when finishing the degree, they'd let you start the MBA coursework free, but not anymore. I graduated last month yet my term technically ends at the end of september. My mentor offered to pull strings and let me disengage this term early and start a new one for the MBA, but I didn't have the resources to pay, and financial aid won't cover terms that are so close together. Your nursing mentor may be able to pull those same strings if you have the resources to finance an MSN term by yourself

Welllllll looks like I'll be calling my enrollment counselor. This is not going to work for me.

I would not be upset if I had known this from the beginning, but it has been done in a very bait and switch fashion.

It's an issue for me. I talked to my counselor. May switch to the BSN program.

Yeah, I just learned this today too. I would be very upset, and I feel bad that I've been giving people here erroneous information. I feel like they're making all these little (and big) changes in stages, and it's very confusing, because you never know from one month to the next what the deal is. I wish they would get their poop together and do the changeover all at once, and be very clear EVERYTHING that is going to be changed and WHEN.

I spoke to my enrollment person again today. He seems to think it can be fixed. We shall see. Supposed to start orientation tomorrow and this is seriously ticking me off.

Why are you starting orientation in the middle of a month?

Why are you starting orientation in the middle of a month?

The orientation is available after the fifteenth of the month prior to the month you start.

How did everyone find this out? I have been reading about this on the facebook page. I just don't understand why they would not award a BSN degree when the BSN portion is done? I am going to email my enrollment counselor ASAP.
