microbiology and statistics at WGU

I'm about to enter the online RN-BSN program at and am terrified of the microbiology and Intro to probability and statistics classes. Any insight would be appreciated. Also I have to complete 38 competency units and was hoping to do it in 2 six month terms. Is that feasible?

I begin WGUs RN-BSN program on Aug 1st. I need 39 CUs and my mentor has told me that it will be "very doable". We will see! Also, if you click on the courses under Degree Plan in the student portal, you have access to some learning resources before the term even starts, so if you're nervous (like me), take a peek and get a head start on studying/ familiarize yourself with some material. Oh, and if those classes have a pre assessment, ask your mentor if you can take it before you begin just to give you a heads up on what the tests are like.

*Very doable in 2 terms.

definitely doable in two terms. Some of us have done more than that in one term!! :) As for micro - do NOT stress about it. The test is not difficult at all IMO. The lab is a bit tedious, but it's not harshly graded. The statistics class has just changed - early buzz is that it's for the better, although I didn't mind the old one. No major math at all.

Those classes are pretty standard requirements for BSN programs, so you're likely to have to take them regardless of where you go, and is a pretty low-pressure environment for taking them.

Statistics is a quick overview of statistics. Statistics literacy, basically. There's very little math involved. Some people struggle with it, but really, it's likely to be easier than if you went to a community college to take it.

I don't know anything about microbiology, but haven't heard anyone complain about anything beyond the difficulty in incubating samples without a proper temperature-controlled lab setup.
