Has anyone done the WGU online RN to BSN program?

Has anyone taken any classes from , the RN to BSN program? It looks like a great program, but the classes are not your typical pay per class style. They go by a 6 month period, you pay a fee for that period and can take or test out of as many classes as you would like.

I also like the fact that when I told them I could not start until the fall of 2010 they kept my name and information on file and update me once a month, but are not pushing. I filled out a form for info on another college 2 days ago and they haven't stopped calling, calling, calling since. I do not like the pressure tactics. Thank you.:uhoh3:

Lisa 1980, thank you very much. Another question is- since WGU give "pass" or"fail" grade and after I am done with WGU RN-BSN programm I might go for MSN. How do they look/evalute your grades pass/fail?

My understanding (and I'm not a current student but plan to start on July 1) is that a "pass" translates to a B/3.0 on transcripts to other schools. That's the only down side to the program that I've found, but I'm 80% certain I'll be continuing on with my MSN at as well, so it's less important.

Hi all, I wanted to put my two cents! Love Love WGU!!!!! I started this month on 5/1/11 and I have completed the intro course EWB2 in two days. I also finished Professional Roles and Values, and Contemporary Nursing issues. SO... I have completed 3 courses and tomorow I will be working on my 4th course. I am very dedicated. I work full time day hours, I am a wife and a mother. I have a supporative family. It can be done. My goals is the same as christys, I want to be finished in 4 months. This next course I think will take a little more time it's more in depth and a challenge for me.

Good Luck everyone!

Oh wow, that's awesome! I'm expecting that I'll have the same classes to complete (I will have my intake interview here in about 15 minutes), and my goal was to finish everything in six months. It's good to hear that it's doable, especially with a fulltime job and a family.

Hi! Is there anyone who took Chemistry, Statistics or nutrition class in for RN-BSN? How was your experience? How lond did it take to to complete the course? I need all 3 classes and thinking to take statistics in regular college this summer (1.5 months)before I send my transcripts to WGU. Is there anyone who took statistics At WGU and how long did it take you? Thank you very much!!!

I'm interested in this answer, too. Because I have an AAS degree, everything didn't transfer - they went through class by class. I need to take chemistry and nutrition, as well as a liberal arts class, geh.

I'm very disappointed - my goal was to finish the BSN in one term, now it looks like it will be two.

purpledrop, I live in Florida. I am in Coral Springs and currently attending !

Hi Lisa 1980, I am planning to move to FL, but wanted to complete my RN to BSN at first. I wanted to make sure that FL board of nursing accepts BSN from WGU. How many calssed did you complete and how many more to go? Dod you have to take statistic at WGU? Thankx:)

purpledrop, I have completed 3 classes (I start on 5/1/11). I have 5 more to go. The community health course it kicking my butt!!! I can usually finish a task in 2-3 days. I am on day 4 now trying to work on the first task and all i got is a bunch of notes right now. THis course is a little tougher... then it also has a clinical portion. APA paper, but i'll have to do some leg work to get info in my community. It's the pracitum of this course. The course of study is even difficult. I just can tell.... this is not my speicality; kinda of boring to me. But bless the nurses that love it! We all got our place!

Oh, and no i took statistics at my local college like 5 years ago. barely passed it, but I accepted my "C" with a smile!!!!!

Hi Lisa 1980! So you only need to do 5 more classes to get BSN from ?! Congrats!

Would you suggest I take Statistics at my local college (I registered for this summer, it'll cost me 1.5 months of classes-3 times a week plus $525 from my pocket, or it is better to apply to WGU, pay for 6 months 3500 and take Statistics, Chemistry with nursing there? Thank you I really appriciate it:)

Yes, I will take them through .

I haven't had too many liberal arts classes under my belt - a psych 101, a world religions class, a couple communications classes and I think that's about it. Both of those were counted as prereqs already, and WGU doesn't allow you to use a class more than once.

So you have to do clinicals for the program? I didn't think there were any clinicals at all. That's one of the many things that made it so appealing to me. You're doing an awesome job though! Three classes down already, wow!

designer-mommy, it's not really a clinical they call it a pracitum. Basically, i have to search info maybe interview a couple people. I have to get the project approved by the course mentor then I write a APA style report on my findings. That is the clinical! No one looking over your shoulder or anything like that.

purpledrop, not sure about chemistry. if you can afford it sure do it with . Overall i disliked statistics no matter where I would of took it!!! : )
