Cons of WGU

Nursing Students Western Governors

Just curious if there were any complaints about the program for RN-BSN at ? I am unhappy with my current school and realize it will take much longer to finish my degree than I would like. Also how difficult is the statistics class? Thanks

Thank you all. Trying to decide which is best... I think I would be better to change schools but am nervous as I already have a lot of student loans. Afraid to make the wrong mistake.

FWIW, my story. I entered Frontier University's (at the time, Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing) bridge program for RN to CNM. I was in my third (and last) term of the bridge part of the program when I realized I didn't want to be a midwife. I had accrued about $12,000 in student loans. I withdrew from that program and about two months later, started 's RN-BSN program. So I have accrued $12,000 in student loans, and pretty much all I had to show for it was that I had taken Stats, and didn't have to repeat it.

I'm still paying off the 9 months of Frontier's program, but I don't regret in the least my decision to leave the program and start over. I'm now 6 months away from my MSN, and within the next couple years, I anticipate making 6 figures (if that matters to you).

I've been comparing. How do the courses rank? Are there a lot of essays /papers to write? Asking because I am worthless with APA formatting. Just need a lot of time to decide which route I am better off taking. Should I stay with current school and drag it out or move full speed ahead. ?

Yes, there are a lot of papers, but if you use the PERRLA program, you shouldn't have a problem. I cannot APA-format my way out of a paper bag, but with PERRLA I've always gotten 3s and 4s on the APA format part of the rubric. So I would definitely not let that stop you. Good luck, whatever you decide!

Yes, there are quite a few papers - 16 tasks requiring APA formatting within the core nursing classes, potentially more if you have prerequisites to do. These range from very short papers and PowerPoints where you don't even have to use full sentences to some pretty major 20+ page papers.

But it isn't that bad. You just have to pass, not worry about getting the highest grade possible, and the standards don't seem to be super high overall. The APA formatting doesn't have to be perfect. I say that as someone who has chronic problems with writer's block and dropped out of college my first time because of it.

Did you end up starting at ? curious as to how things are going?

Not yet. I have a final to take tomorrow at with current course and then will spend some time researching and talking with . Just been super busy time for me right now. I am wondering about textbooks, but most importantly.. Financial aid process. Any suggestions or advice on this? Thanks you all again for your help!

Textbooks are all electronic (through VitalSource) and included in the tuition.

Financial aid - just fill out the FAFSA. If you want loans, there's some sort of loan education thing you have to go through, which is really not a big deal. I found the process very simple and straightforward.

You don't need to finish classes to start the process of calling the school and beginning your app. You can be gathering and sending documents as you get them while taking prefers. They will add them to the file until you are completed and ready for submission.

Turn submit for financial aid now and have it ready, then you won't need to do it last minute.

Thank you. I have a ton of student loans as it is but I feel this would be the right move for me... Just want to be finished lol

I feel you. I have alot to pay back from pervious education. Glad is low cost but really good.
