Anyone in or finished the pre-licensure online BSN program?

Nursing Students Western Governors

I have been looking for reviews on the BSN program, but so far most of the reviews are on the ADN-BSN programs. I would like to hear from students that either are in the pre-licensure BSN program or finished the program.

-Pro's and cons of your opinion

-How long will or did it take you to finish?

-Do you work or did you work while in the program? And how many hours a week?

-And add anything else you would want to share with me, please :)

If anyone particular is from southern california in the program, how did the clinicals work? Did they find you a hosptial and a mentor or do you find your own?

anyone attending prelicensure nursing program at WGU? If so, is it difficult to get in? What are the chances you can get in the program when you apply?

Depends on the location. Some locations are very competitive some not as much. From what I can tell California is the most competitive.

Thank you for your responses! Just my luck im in California lol. ...how can you make yourself more competitive? Also, why don't the first 6 months count? Are you not really taking courses?

The first six months is a pre-clinical term. The courses certainly 'count' but they are key to whether you progress to the clinical terms. If you don't pass everything in that term, you do not get into the clinical component of the program.

Oh okay. I understand now. That makes sense you have be competent enough to move forward to clinicals. Thank you.

I am still waiting to see if I get in. I am an LVN but I will be starting from the beginning because they don't have a LVN to BSN program. It is still so much cheaper than any of the LVN to BSN programs in So. Cal. Many of those programs are $50,000 and up. It makes more sense to spend less money and have some of the material be a refresher course and still get out of school in the same amount of time as I would have if I had done one of the LVN to BSN programs. This program has a good reputation in the distance learning field.

gm I couldn't agree more. Thats a good idea i bet you'll have glide through the p program since you have the experience already. I hope you get in. I hate that CA is soo competitive and expensive makes everything more stressful

I am graduating in a few months. It was definitely a challenging program and required dedication to read all the material and know it since there is no class to attend aside from labs and clinicals. Overall I think I am well rounded and ready to enter the nursing realm.

That's good to know. Did you enjoy your clinicals? Were you actually able to work,? It seems like a great program still seems too good to be true lol i hate that it's so competitive though.

I am a former student of a Jr. College that didn't work out and am leery of NS. I think I might be picked for the next cohort at and am excited. How were you treated throughout your career there at WGU?

What hospitals in Southern California are used for the clinical in the BSN (pre-licensure) program?

Does anyone have feed back on completing their BSN (pre-licensure) program at and then continuing on to a higher Nursing Degree/Certification?

I am currently a WGU student enrolled in a non-nursing degree program. I want to change my major to Nursing. I have aspirations to become a CRNA and I would like to work part-time while obtaining my BSN. I also am married and have 1 child, so the flexibility that WGU offers is attractive to me and from experience, I know it works.

I would appreciate any feedback/opinions!

Thank you.

How is the program going for you? I too live in So-Cal and I am interested in the BSN (pre-licensure) program. What hospitals are clinical done at? Also, do you know of any graduates that have continued on to advanced Nursing Degree/Certification programs?

I know one is Cedar-Sinai.
