Wheeling Hospital

The headline says the hospital laid off 30 yesterday. It declines to say what jobs. I would guess it is not 30 executives who were affected.

Gosh, I hate to see this. They say shortage out one side of their mouths and layoff out the other side.

Wheeling has maybe 250 beds acute care, and maybe 30 more on their skilled unit. I just saw a thing in the paper about one of their radiation oncologists (Dr. Merrick) being selected to head some national organization re: prostate ca. We had a friend whose Cleveland area doc sent him to Wheeling to see Dr. Merrick as opposed to sending him to the Cleveland Clinic for his prostate ca.
