Trying different LPN School

To no prevail I didn't get into a LPN nursing program being an alternate, so I applied At UTC in Clarksburg, took the TEAS test and now I'm granted an interview, but from what I hear they interview so many people, and they still only take the top 30-40 people, why do they interview so many if they already have their minds made up? I have no idea about my scores and where I stand. Has anyone ever attended this program before and what kind of question they do ask. I'm actually an older adult trying to go back to school. I just want to be prepare, even though my chances are slim.

1 more thing when they interview do they interview by lowest score to the highest, by highest to lowest, or do they interview ABC order? Someone also told they take people on assitant first, is this true?

Hello, I just wanted to give an update, I'm just not having any luck getting in to an LPN program, received my letter in April 2009, didn't get in but again I was chosen as an alternate, talked to the instructor, alternate number 6, taking only 27, I was chosen as an alternate for the other program in Buckhannon, WV. Was alternate number 6 there also in January 2009. I guess my chances are slim getting into this program. Has anyone ever been chosen as an alternate for this program at UTC in Clarksburg?

Sorry, but I don't have any info on either LPN program. Just wondering if you've tried asking the school about alternates and how often they end up in the program? You might also ask what you could do to increase your chances of getting in as I do know there are some nursing programs that give more consideration to people already working in healthcare (as a tech, CNA, secretary, whatever).

Thanks for the reply, I am a CNA and I work for long term. I did talk to the instructor on Thursday, she said I scored high on my interview testing and they really liked me, they told me that they had to make some decisions on choices. But anyways last year they told us they chose 32 students for the class and I don't know how many alternates they picked. but they picked 13 alternates last year for the class. and I'm alternate # 6 for the 2009 class.

I am in the 2009 class at Fred Eberle in Buckhannon, WV now. We have one alternate in our class. Most people accepted take their spot in the class. They have waited for their chance too. I know 3 people who have went to UTC but dont know anything about their alternate process or how deep they go. Sorry I couldnt be more help.

Hi, I changed LPN schools. First I attended a private school, but had a few life experiences that distracted me so that I did not give my full self to my education and flunked pharmacology with a 79.35% I needed a 79.5 to pass.... I waited a year, depressed and then thought I'd go back for it but went to a smaller school in the country that was a little closer to home. I passed with flying colors. Good Luck in your search
